Skoda Kodiaq facelift launch timeline revealed

Skoda unveiled the 2022 Kodiaq earlier this year in the international markets. The new facelift variant will also launch in the Indian market. After much speculation, a test version of the updated Skoda Kodiaq was spotted without camouflage on the Indian roads earlier this year. Now, Zac Hollis of Skoda India confirmed the launch of the new Kodiaq in India.

Zac Hollis, Director, Sales and Marketing – Skoda India was replying to an enquiry made on Twitter. Hollis said that Skoda will start the manufacturing of the new Kodiaq facelift by week 49 of this year, which is around 6 December. He also said that the deliveries of the new Kodiaq facelift will happen in early 2022.

Even though the new Skoda Kodiaq is a facelift, there are quite many changes in the design of the vehicle. The front-end or the face of the car now looks much more robust and very dynamic. To do that, Skoda has re-designed the bonnet of the car. The bonnet is longer and the grille is more upright. The design of the grille is also different. The design of the air intakes in the bumper has changed too.

On the inside, the Kodiaq gets new ergonomic functions including a massage function. The overall design remains the same but there are a few changes that make the car much more updated and modern.

The higher-ned variants will also offer seat ventilation, electrically adjustable seats with massage function, 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Skoda will also offer a panoramic sunroof, premium Canton speaker system and more.

Petrol only

Skoda will not offer any diesel engine options in the future. Following the same strategy, Skoda Kodiaq will only get petrol engine options. There will be a 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine that generates a maximum of around 190 Bhp. There is a less powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine that generates a maximum of 148Bhp.

The Indian market is likely to get the more powerful engine of the two. The Indian-spec model will also get an all-wheel-drive option (AWD) too. However, Skoda has not confirmed if the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine will also be an option for Indian customers.

Skoda has added the RS variant of the Octavia too. It gets a twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol TSI engine that is also available with the Octavia RS. It generates a maximum power of around 245 Bhp. Skoda has also added a remapped seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission as standard in the 2021 Kodiaq RS. With the new updates, it is about 60 kg lighter than before.
