The Volkswagen group has been planning a lot of new India specific cars under Project ‘2.0’. The Taigun is the first product under this new project. It is based on the India specific ‘MQB-A0-IN’ platform. But the XUV700 launch has heated the competition a lot in this segment. Though the XUV700 is a segment up, the pricing is very competitive even in this segment. The XUV700 has revealed the price of some 5 seater variants and the delivery timeline will take longer due to the chip shortage. More Space
The Taigun is 4221mm in length, 1760mm in width & 1612mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2651. It has a roomy cabin with a lot of space inside. But the XUV700 blows it out of the water with its space. As the XUV700 is designed as a seven-seater, it has a lot of space. The XUV700 is 4695mm in length, 1890mm in width & 1755mm in height. In the seven-seater variant, you get extra seats and in the five-seater variant, you can get the best boot space in this segment.
Rs 12 lakh SUV engine specifications
Volkswagen cars are known for their powerful engines and fun driving experience. The Taigun gets a 1.0-litre TSI engine capable of producing 115bhp & 175Nm of torque. The other engine is a 1.5-litre producing 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. It comes with manual and automatic gearbox options.
The XUV700, on the other hand, comes with the most powerful engine in this segment. The 2.0-litre petrol engine is capable of producing 197bhp and 380Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre diesel engine is capable of producing 185bhp and 350Nm of torque. It also gets manual and automatic gearboxes.
Features
The Taigun comes with features like a 10-inch infotainment system, digital cockpit, ventilated seats, automatic headlamps, wireless charging, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring and auto-dimming rearview mirror. The XUV700 comes with segment features ADAS (level1), wireless charging, drive modes, auto-booster headlamps, 360-degree camera, AdrenoX UI with Amazon Alexa and connected car tech.
Rs 12 lakh SUV pricing
The Taigun is expected to start from Rs 9.5 lakh and go to Rs 18.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The XUV700 pricing for the five-seater variant starts from Rs 11.99 lakh to Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The pricing of the seven-seater is not yet revealed.

Yes, you should definitely wait for the XUV700 as at the same price you can get a big car and powerful engines. The features on offer in the XUV700 are also quite good for this segment.
