Skoda wants to expand itself in the Indian market. It recently launched the Skoda Kushaq in India. The Kushaq is the first India-specific car Skoda has developed for its project 2.0 initiative. But Skoda as a brand is typically known for its sedans. Skoda has already confirmed that it will be launching a mid-size sedan positioned above the rapid. The speculated name for this new sedan is Slavia. The car has been spotted testing in India a few times. In today’s article, we will be looking at this Rs 11 lakh Skoda sedan.
Skoda 11 lakh sedan design
This new sedan from Skoda will get modern design elements. The front will get sleek LED headlamps that will be complemented by Sharp LED DRLS. The rest of the front will get a traditional Skoda grille and fog lamps. The side profile of this car will be similar to the current Skoda rapid. At the rear, it will get sleek taillamps with the worded Skoda logo in the middle, similar to Octavia and Superb.
Engine specifications
The Slavia is expected to get the same powertrain options as the Kushaq. A 1.0-litre TSI engine capable of producing 113bhp and 175Nm of torque. Gearbox options will include a manual and a torque converter gearbox. The second engine will be a 1.5-litre TSI engine capable of producing 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. Gearbox options for this engine include a manual and a DSG gearbox.
Skoda 11 lakh sedan features
Skoda Slavia is expected to come loaded with features to attract customers. It will get features like an electric sunroof, wireless charging, a fully digital instrument cluster, segment leading touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, remote engine start-stop and a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel. Could we see some features from the Octavia make it here? Maybe.
Launch & pricing
Zac Hollis, Skoda India has already confirmed that this new midsize sedan will be unveiled by the end of this year. It is expected to start from somewhere around Rs 11 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will compete with cars like Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz.
