2022 has been especially good for Tata. It has raked in good sales with cars like the Nexon and Punch, even topping the sales chart. Another good thing has been the headstart it has got in the EV space. Tata already has four EVs in its lineup, which is double of any other mass-market manufacturer. Now Tata has confirmed another EV. What is this EV? It’s the Tata Punch EV. In today’s article, let’s talk about this 12 lakh electric SUV.
New development
We already knew that Tata is looking to convert all its ICE cars into EVs. However, there is uncertainty regarding which models it will convert. Now Tata has outrightly confirmed that its next EV will be the Punch EV. It is expected to be launched by the end of 2023. The Punch EV will be joining the likes of Nexon EV, Tiago EV and Tigor EV in Tata’s EV portfolio.

The Punch EV could get some subtle changes in the exterior and interior. On the exterior, we could see blue highlights and Tata’s signature EV Teal Blue colour. We can expect some blue highlights in the interior. Feature-wise, it could get all the features that the regular Punch gets. Could it get extra features? Only time will tell, but Tata could load the car with features to attract buyers.
Specifications
Like other Tata EVs, the Punch EV will come with the brand’s Ziptron technology. The Punch EV could share its specifications with the Nexon EV Prime. So it could come with a 127bhp motor paired with a 30.2kWh battery pack. In the Nexon EV Prime, this battery pack delivers an estimated range of 312km (MIDC claimed). The Punch EV could be an ideal city car with its compact dimensions and range.

Tata is known for its aggressive pricing as we had seen on the recently launched Tiago EV. We expect Tata to follow the same strategy on the Punch EV. The Punch EV could slot in below the Nexon EV and Tigor EV. So we can expect its price to start from Rs 14 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
