Hyundai Grand i10 Nios facelift

With the Santro discontinued, the Grand i10 Nios has become the most affordable option in Hyundai’s portfolio. The Grand i10 Nios could get a major update in 2023. The car has been spotted testing in South Korea. It could get a reworked front design and tail lamp design. Hyundai could also add new features to the facelift. The Grand i10 facelift could be launched sometime in 2023. 

Tata Punch EV

Tata is on a roll in the EV space. It is already leading the EV sales chart and wants to continue that momentum. Its next EV could be the Punch EV. Recently, Tata confirmed that it will be launching the Punch EV by the end of 2023. Punch EV could share its battery and motor with the Nexon EV prime. So it could get a 30.2kWh battery pack and a 127bhp motor. It could get the usual Tata EV treatment with blue highlights and EV badging. Feature-wise, it could get all the features of the Punch top model.

Maruti Baleno Cross

Maruti is making a crossover version of the Baleno hatchback to cash into the SUV craze. The car has been spotted several times in testing showcasing a coupe-SUV-like design. Specification-wise, it could come with a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine capable of producing 100bhp. Maruti last used this on the Baleno RS. It is expected to come loaded with features like a heads-up display, 9.0-inch infotainment, 360-degree camera etc. Maruti could unveil the car at the Auto Expo of 2023, and the launch could happen in April 2023.

Maruti and Toyota have been sharing several products in our market. According to reports, Toyota will also bring its version of the Baleno Cross. It will get a slightly tweaked design similar to the Glanza. Interiors could get a different upholstery compared to the Baleno Cross. Features and engine specifications could remain the same. Toyota could launch this car a few months after the Baleno Cross.

Citroen eC3

Citroen is also entering the EV space soon. It is using Tata’s strategy of converting existing ICE cars into EVs. Citroen is making an electric version of the C3. This car is regularly spotted testing near the company plant in Chennai. It is expected to get a 30kWh battery pack which should deliver a real-world range of 200km. Pricing-wise, we expect Citroen to surprise everyone with competitive pricing. Citroen could launch the eC3 in the first half of 2023.

One of the most hyped-up upcoming cars is the Jimny. The Jimny is famous worldwide for its off-roading capabilities. In India, Maruti is bringing the 5-door version to increase the practicality. The car has been spotted without camouflage. It gets only some subtle changes over the 3-door version. Maruti could update the interior and features to make it better. Maruti is expected to unveil the car at the Auto Expo of 2023.

Mahindra Thar 4×2

To counter the Jimny, Mahindra is launching the 4×2 variant of the Thar. The 4×2 Thar will come with a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 2.0-litre petrol engine. The 1.5-litre could be priced below Rs 10 lakh as it fulfils all the sub-compact segment criteria. Barring the engine, all other things like design and features will remain the same on this 4×2 variant. 

Kia Seltos facelift

The Seltos firmly cemented the Kia brand in India. Since its launch in 2019, Kia has given some minor updates to the Seltos. But now it is giving a major update to the Seltos. Kia has already unveiled the facelifted version in South Korea and USA. This model gets a slightly tweaked front design and several new features.

The Creta is the crowning jewel in Hyundai’s portfolio. It still has a waiting period of over six months on select variants. Nevertheless, Hyundai is working on the facelifted model of the Creta. It has launched the facelift outside India, but we aren’t sure if it will bring that version to India. The facelifted Creta gets an updated Tucson-like front design and some new features. Hyundai has added ADAS in the facelift, which should make its way to India. The Creta facelift is expected to be launched in mid-2023. 

Hyundai Ai3

Hyundai is also working on its smallest SUV for the Indian market. Primarily this will be Hyundai’s Punch competitor. For now, the car is codenamed Ai3 and was recently spotted in South Korea. It could take design inspiration from Casper. The Interior and features could be similar to the Grand i10 Nios. Mechanically bits like engine and suspension could also be shared with the Grand i10 Nios. According to reports, Ai3 could be launched in mid-2023. 

Honda mid-size

Honda has fallen behind the competition due to its no-SUV policy. However, now Honda has figured out that it cannot survive without an SUV. It is now working on a C-SUV segment to take on the Hyundai Creta. This will be based on a modified version of the Amaze and come with a design similar to the WR-V. Interiors will be premium as they will be based on Honda’s electronic architecture. Specification-wise, it could come with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre strong petrol hybrid. Honda could launch the car in mid-2023. 

MG Air EV

MG already has a presence in the EV space with the ZS EV. But now it wants to enter the affordable space with the MG Air EV. The Air EV is a unique car being a four-door compact car. Dimension-wise, it is similar to the Tata Nano. MG has loaded the interior with premiumness. It gets a dual 10.25-inch infotainment system and instrument cluster. MG is expected to unveil the car at the Auto Expo of 2023.

Citroen is not only stopping on the eC3 as it has plans to bring a 7-seater MPV. A couple of months back, a C3 with the third row of seating was spotted testing. From the spy shots, this 7-seater could be based on the C3 hatchback with a bigger overhang to accommodate the extra seats. It will get better interiors and more features like automatic climate control, wireless charging etc. Citroen could launch this MPV by the end of 2023.
