Mahindra has always looked up to its SUV-centric portfolio. It has a long list of potential SUVs which are doing well in the market but if we talk about its top seller, it’s the Bolero. This car’s pretty at the apex position and is Mahindra highest selling car in India. However, things are about to change and another Rs 10 lakh is soon to rival the Bolero. Mahindra Bolero rival – Maruti Jimny 5-door
One of the most anticipated launches for many of us is none other than the Jimny. Maruti has finally unwrapped the Jimny 5-door at the Auto Expo 2023. Carrying over all the lifestyle off roader package, the Jimny gets rugged styling, boxy looks and boot lid mounted spare wheel.
Design
Understanding the needs of the Indian market where practicality is a talking point in SUVs, Maruti has come up with a 5-door iteration for India. This 5-door model has got an increased wheelbase of 3850mm, which is 300mm more than the 3-door model. Overall the length measures at 3,985mm (under 4 metre) to keep the prices in check. The addition of the extra wheelbase has resulted in spacious second row and ample amount of bootspace. This will help Maruti to take on the upcoming Thar and Gurkha 5-door models.
Mahindra Bolero rival – Features
Maruti has kept the interiors of the car lively. It has given all the creature comforts along with the 9.0-inch infotainment system. In this feature-biased automotive scene where everybody’s looking for a loaded car, the Jimny is offering a semi digital instrument cluster, Arkamys sound system, automatic headlamps with washer, and more. Other than this, it gets an 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, all power windows, a semi-digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play and more.
Specifications
Maruti has made the Jimny 5 door available with a single petrol engine option. It has got the K15B petrol engine which is seen on the Ciaz. In the Jimny, it produces produces 103bhp and 134Nm of torque which seems ample enough for a car of its size. What about transmission? It has got the 5-speed manual and also a 4-speed AT torque converter.
