Tata Nexon EV cheaper by 1-lakh!

The EV segment is still in its nascent stage in the country. However, in the last few months, we are seeing a lot of activity with the launch of the XUV400, Tata Tiago EV and also the upcoming MG Air EV and Citroen eC3. Yesterday, Mahindra revealed the pricing of the XUV400. Now Tata seems to have retaliated by lowering the price of the Nexon EV Prime and Max. In today’s article, lets talk about the Nexon EV price.

Changes in the Nexon EV Prime

Tata has slashed the pricing of the Nexon EV Prime. The Nexon EV prime XM variant now starts from Rs 14.49 lakh, a price cut of Rs 50k from the current prices. Other variants in Nexon EV prime – XZ+ start from Rs 15.99 lakh and XZ+ Lux starts from Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). All the variants come with a 3.3kw battery pack.

The Nexon EV Max now gets a new base variant in the form of the XM variant. This new variant starts from Rs 16.49 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of new features, it gets Electronic Parking Brake, Electronic Stability Program, Rear Disc Brakes, and Push Button Start. Also, the Nexon EV Max now gets a claimed range of 453kms from the earlier 437kms. This range update would also be extended to existing customers through a software update.

Now let’s talk about the other variants. The Nexon EV Max XZ+ 3.3kWh and XZ+ Plus 3.3kWh start from Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 18.49 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom). Both the variants get a price cut of Rs 50k respectively. Moving forward there is an XM variant with the 7.2kW charger starting from Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The XZ and XZ+ plus with 7.2kWh chargers start from Rs 17.99 and 18.99 lakh respectively. Both variants get a price slash of around Rs 1 lakh. 

Specifications

The Nexon EV comes with two battery options – a 40.5kWh and a 30.2kWh. The 40.5kWh comes with a 143bhp motor, while the 30.2kWh comes with a 127bhp. The bigger motor can do the 0-100 sprint in under 9 seconds. Nexon EV also comes with a 50kW DC fast charger, a 7.2kW and a 3.3kW option.
