Toyota cars are the cheapest to maintain over 10 years: New study

For the longest period, we have all revered the Japanese multinational automaker Toyota Motor Corporation as one of the most reliable brands in the entire world. In India as well we have heard numerous stories of people driving their Toyota vehicles for lakhs and lakhs of kilometers. And now with a new recent study, it has been confirmed that the Toyota cars also the cheapest of any brand in the world to drive and maintain over a period of 10 years.

According to a study conducted by CarEdge, it has been reported that Toyota ranks number one on the list of the least expensive cars to maintain. The study found out that on average Toyota cars over a period of 10 years cost a mere $5,996 to maintain. Following the suite, other automakers on the top 5 positions of this list were the Japanese automakers Mitsubishi which costs $7,787, Honda which costs $7,827, Mazda cars which cost $8,035 and finally Nissan sums $8,088 in maintenance over a decade.

Furthermore, the study also revealed an astonishing fact that on the list of 164 cars that were ranked with their maintenance costs, the Japanese automaker managed to put 7 cars in the top 10. According to the list the Toyota Prius tops it with only $4,008 in mainteance in 10 years time. Meanwhile the second slot was occupied by Toyota Yaris costing $4,027. Third was Toyota Corolla – $4,087, fourth was Toyota Prius Prime – $4,098, fifth was Toyota Camry – $4,203 and sixth was Toyota Avalon – $4,407. To everyone’s surprise even the brands two door sportscar Toyota Supra was on the list at number 7 costing only $4,950 in a 10 whole years.

Meanwhile in terms of the luxury automotive brands, the American EV auto giant Tesla took the top spot on the list. As per the study Tesla cars cost only $5,867 over a period of 10 years. Additionally its hatchback Model 3 ranked on top of the vehicles list with only $3,587 cost. Second spot on the list was held on by Tesla’s all-electric sedan Model S with $4,566 and the third spot was taken Tesla Model Y – $4,732.

The Japanese automaker Toyota’s luxury arm – Lexus stood as the runner up in the list of cheapest luxury car brands to maintian list. However the next four slots on the vehicles list were occupied by Lexus cars. The list included the Lexus ES 350 with average maintenance of $5,488 at fourth spot, meanwhile the Lexus ES 300h with $5,662 came at fifth position. Sixth and seventh positions were occupied by the Lexus IS 350 – $5,680 and the Lexus GS 350 $5,721 respectively.

The topper on the most expensive popular brands to maintain list was the American truck manufacturer RAM, which on an average over 10 years costs $22,075 to maintain. Meanwhile the second, third and fourth spots were also taken by RAMs sister brands Jeep – $11,476, Chrysler – $11,364 and Dodge –  $11,079.

 

Worst on the list of luxury brands to maintain in 10 years time was the German automaker Porsche which costs $22,075. Meanwhile the second spot was taken by BMW – $19,312. Third and fourth on the list were the British automakers owned and operated by Tata Motors – Land Rover – $18,569 and Jaguar – $17,636. The fourth slot was taken by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz – $15,986.
