Volkswagen launched its mid-size sedan Virtus GT in the market last year. It is currently the most powerful sedan in the segment. Since its launch, we have been seeing several videos of Virtus on the internet where its owners showcase its power. There are several drag race videos of Virtus available online. In many videos, the car is seen competing with cars of its own segment and other than that, it has even raced against cars from a segment above too. Here we have a video where a Virtus GT sedan is seen competing with Audi Q7 lucury SUV in a drag race.
The video has been uploaded by Pratham Shokeen on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger starts by talking about the engine specification of both the cars. The Virtus GT seen here is powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. The Audi Q7 on the other hand is powered by a 3.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine. The SUV generates 241 Bhp and 550 Nm of peak torque. Virtus is a front wheel drive sedan whereas the Audi Q7 gets Quattro. On paper Q7 was winning the race clearly however, Virtus is a lighter vehicle than Audi Q7.

The race was conducted on a closed road and the vlogger was driving the Virtus while his friend was in the Audi Q7. Both cars were in drive mode and the AC was on. The traction control was turned off and both cars had two people in it. Both the drivers prepared to start and as soon as it started, the Audi Q7 moved off the start line quite aggressively. The Volkswagen Virtus on the other hand was slow and by the time, it picked up speed, the Audi Q7 was in the lead and there was no way that the Virtus was going to catch up. Audi Q7 won the first round.
Similar results awaited in the second round too. The gap between both cars are so much that they can fit 2-3 cars between them. For the third round, vlogger turned the AC off in Virtus for advantage. when the race started, the DSG transmission did show its initial lag again and the Quattro on the Q7 pushed the SUV forward. However, the gap between both the cars reduced slightly. For the next round, the setting remained same on both the vehicles but, they were now being driven in Sport mode. Audi Q7 once again performed pretty well and won the round.
The vlogger can be heard saying in the video that he was expecting results like this because the transmission on the Virtus is slightly sluggish in the start. For the last round, vlogger sat inside the Audi Q7 and his friend drove the Virtus. Even in this round, Q7 was the clear winner. Despite its heavy weight, Audi Q7 managed to win the race without any issues. At no point in the race, Volkswagen Virtus could pose a threat to the Q7.
