2023 Maruti Fronx Sigma base variant spotted before official launch

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx was recently unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo and drew a lot of attention with its coupe-like looks and premium features. However, not much was known about the base-spec Sigma variant of the Fronx, as only the top-spec Alpha variant was displayed at the Auto Expo. Now, a casual look at Fronx Sigma on NEXA’s authorized website has revealed a few details of how the base variant of Fronx will look, once it arrives.

As seen in the configurator section of Fronx on NEXA’s website, we can see how the base variant of Fronx looks. Like the Sigma variant of Baleno, the new Maruti Suzuki Fronx Sigma gets blacked-out door handles and rearview mirrors. Unlike the Baleno Sigma, the Fronx Sigma gets a blacked-out finish for the B- and C-pillars, which does not make it look a tad too basic like the former.

In the visuals, we can see that the base variant of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx gets fender-mounted turn indicators and steel wheels. However, at the time of launch, the Fronx Sigma will get plastic caps for the steel wheels, which otherwise look exposed in the website’s visuals. The Fronx Sigma also gets projector headlamps and split LED turn indicators above them, along with front and rear silver skid plates.

On the inside, the base variant of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx misses out on a functional infotainment system and steering-mounted audio controls, both of which are offered from Delta onwards. However, this variant gets automatic climate control as standard, a rare thing which is usually not seen in vehicles of this category. The Fronx Sigma also gets a twin-pod instrument console with a MID in between, all four power windows, remote central locking and a 12V power outlet.

The base variant of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx will be offered only with the combination of a 1.2-litre K12C Dualjet petrol engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox. Here in the Fronx, this engine claims 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. This engine is also available in the mid-spec Delta and Delta+ variants, where it is also available with an optional 5-speed AMT.

In addition, the lineup of Fronx also includes an optional 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine in Delta+, Zeta and Alpha variants. Available with both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, this turbocharged petrol engine claims 100 PS of power and 147 Nm of torque.
