Upcoming Hyundai car launches in 2023

The South Korean automaker for the longest has maintained the position of the second highest-selling automaker in India and this year the company aims to keep its closest rival Tata Motors behind. This is why the company is looking to launch the facelifts of some of its highly popular vehicles and some new vehicles in the country. 2023 will be a big year for Hyundai and this year as of yet it has been summarized that the company is looking to launch four vehicles in the country. So, without any further ado here are the cars that Hyundai is planning to launch this year.

Hyundai Verna Facelift

First and foremost it is has reported that the company could be launching the facelifted iteration of its popular mid-size sedan the Verna. Prior reports suggested that the company is looking to unveil the car at the 2023 Auto Expo but that did not happen Now it has been reported that the unveiling and the launch of the 2023 Verna could happen in March or April of this year.

Recently it was also reported that Hyundai India is planning to bring the all-new facelift of its Verna with a more powerful 1.5 TGDI turbo petrol powerplant that will produce segment leading power and torque. It is believed that the company will be launching an all-new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol unit to replace the old 1.4-liter unit because of the impending RDE regulations. As of yet, precise specifications of this engine are not yet known. However, rumors indicate that it may be capable of producing 160 PS of peak power and 260-265 Nm of peak torque. According to sources, this engine will be compatible with DCT and manual gearboxes.

Hyundai Creta Facelift

The Creta Facelift is one of the most anticipated models from the South Korean automaker and it too was arumoured to be present at the Auto Expo 2023. However like the Verna facelift it was also not displayed at the booth. Recently the company revealed that the model will be making its debut in late 2023 or early 2024.

The company cited the development of an India-specific makeover as the cause for the delay and said it would not import an Indonesian car that was already on the market. According to reports, this upcoming model may not inherit the front fascia from the more expensive sibling Tuscon but rather will have its own distinctive appearance. Additionally, new front and back bumpers as well as new alloy wheel designs are said to be included. We have no spy photos or design ideas for this next small SUV as of yet.

Hyundai AX1 – Punch Rival

Next up on Hyundai’s launch list is the micro SUV Casper which has been codenamed AX1. This micro SUV will be launched to rival the highly popular Tata Punch. According to reports, Casper will be sold with a 1.0-litre SmartStream petrol engine that produces 76 PS of max power and 95 Nm of peak torque. It is a naturally aspirated engine that is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The expected price of the Casper is Rs. 5.15 lakhs to Rs. 6.50 lakhs.

As for the launch previously it was anticipated that the model could make its debut in September of last year although for some reason the launch was delayed. Now the rumors have once again started floating on the internet that it could be launched in the middle or end of this year. The exact date is yet to be announced.

Hyundai Kona EV Facelift

Earlier in December of last year, Hyundai unveiled the facelift of its all-electric SUV Kona in an official global debut. Since then the vehicle has been anticipated to be launched in India. Now according to reports, it has been suggested the company is looking to launch the Kona EV facelift in April of this year.

The Hyundai Kona EV will have a very polarizing appearance with pixelated lighting, a pair of distinctive 19-inch alloy wheels, and a shut-off air inlet with pixel-inspired patterns. The new crossover features in the international where it has been unveiled gets a wheelbase that is 60 mm larger, is 150 mm longer, and is 25 mm wider than the current model. The Ioniq 5 EV had a significant effect on the interior, which has also received a significant makeover.
