The Indian subsidiary of the South Korean auto giant Hyundai – Hyundai Motor India recently launched the updated 2023 Creta and Alcazar. With the new 2023 year update the company has further increased the number of safety features on both the SUV twins. Additionally, the company has also upgraded the engines to now comply with the forthcoming RDE regulations and have also made them E20 fuel ready.
Commenting on the launch of 2023 Creta and Alcazar, Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India said, “As a customer centric organization, we have always strived to deliver exemplary mobility experiences for our customers. With the introduction of our MY’23 updates on Hyundai’s leading SUV range, we have ensured an even more wholesome package that encompasses safety, convenience and performance.”
He further added, “Additionally, we are moving hand in hand with the Government’s direction and have ensured our powertrains are RDE compliant and E20 fuel ready. Thus with these new significant updates, Hyundai’s MY’23 SUVs – VENUE, CRETA & ALCAZAR will offer higher value proposition for our esteemed customers.”

The new 2023 model year Creta will now come equipped with a host of comprehensive active and passive safety features as standard. These features include 6 Airbags (Driver, Passenger, Side & Curtain), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Rear Disc Brakes, Seatbelt Height Adjustment and ISOFIX. Meanwhile the Alcazar on the other hand will now come equipped with 6-Airbags (Driver, Passenger, Side & Curtain) as standard.
Additionally the company also announced that the 2023 Venue will now also come equipped with 4-Airbags (Driver, Passenger & Side) as standard safety fitment on its major volume variants – S (O), SX & SX (O). Furthermore, the 2023 Venue will now be offered with a more powerful 1.5 l U2 CRDi diesel engine that will now come with the South Korean automakers proprietary VGT Technology and will now produce 116 PS of power and torque of 250 Nm.
In addition to safety package enhancement, the company also announced that its range of SUVs will now come equipped with Idle Stop & Go (ISG) feature. Also, the 2023 Creta will now get 60:40 Split Rear Seat as a standard feature as part of the new updates.
In other Hyundai Creta news, recently it was reported that the company is developing an all-electric Creta to further increase its share in the electric vehicle segment in the country. It has also been reported that the company is likely to unveil the production-ready EV SUV at the 2025 Auto Expo and it is expected to see series production by the last quarter of 2024.
The company has reportedly given the development of this SUV the codename project SU2i EV. The car will make its world debut at the 2025 Auto Expo before getting its formal introduction later that year. Additionally, it’s thought that the corporation would introduce this SUV to compete with the newly rumored Maruti EV SUV, code-named YY8. At the Auto Expo 2025, both the Creta and the Maruti YY8 will make their debuts. According to sources, Hyundai is anticipating selling 20,000 to 25,000 units of the Creta EV annually in the country and coincidently it matches the Maruti Suzuki YY8 EV SUV volume projections.
