Maruti Suzuki Jimny is one of the most discussed SUVs on the internet these days. Maruti finally lifted the covers off their upcoming Jimny 5-door 4×4 SUV at the Auto Expo last month. It is one of the most anticipated products from Maruti this year and they have also opened bookings for the same. Maruti Suzuki recently announced that they have received over 15,000 bookings for the Jimny. The SUV will be sold via Nexa dealerships and is expected to soon reach dealerships across the country. Here we have a video where a Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door is spotted on the road before its official launch.
The video has been uploaded by @amn1050 on their YouTube channel. In this video, the base variant of Jimny 5-door is seen on the road. The SUV was already spotted once but, then it was parked and in this video, someone is actually driving the car on the road without any camouflage. We are not sure what is exactly happening here. It is quite possible that this is a dealers car. The SUV seen here is finished in Kinetic Yellow which is an extremely popular colour among Jimny owners around the world.

The SUV looks different from anything else on the road. Due to its vibrant colour, it attracts a lot of eyes on the road. The boxy design of the Jimny along with this flashy looking colour makes the SUV stand out in the crowd. The car as mentioned above is a lower variant and it comes with halogen headlamps instead of projector and the bumper also misses out of the fog lamp which is available in the higher models. Just like any other Maruti vehicle, the base variant of Jimny would also miss out on many features. Talking about the road presence, it does not look too large on the road but, the bright paint job ensures that people notice it. There were no other vehicles around the Jimny for a size comparison.
It should be noted that the Jimny 5-door is a sub-4 meter SUV. Compared to Thar 3-door is smaller in every dimension. The chrome garnish on the front grille has been retained but features like the headlamps washers, fog lamps and alloy wheels are missing. On the inside, Maruti is likely to offer a smaller infotainment screen with 4 speaker setup. Maruti is likely to offer a smaller touchscreen infotainment system with the base variant. The SUV might also miss out on features like automatic climate control, cruise control, leather wrapped steering, push button start/stop and so on.
The engine on Maruti Jimny is a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated unit from K15B series. This is the same engine which is available with the regular 3-door Jimny internationally. This is a proper ladder-on frame SUV and it is currently the only SUV in Maruti’s India line up to come with a proper 4×4 system. The Jimny 5-door generates 103 Bhp and 136 Nm of peak torque. The SUV is available with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission.
