Renault has blown hot and cold in the Indian market. It has had moments of joy with high sales of the Duster & Kwid, while it has also seen despair with the low sales. Currently, it is surviving on the sales of the Kiger. The Kiger is doing decently well with 2,000 to 3,000 average monthly sales. But Renault cannot survive only on the Kiger; it needs to bring new cars. So what can Renault launch? Renault could launch the Koleos in India. The Koleos is 4673mm in length, 1843mm in width & 1667mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2705mm and has a ground clearance of 210mm. Now let’s talk about the design. The Koleos gets a design in line with modern Renault cars with C-shaped LED DRLs and a grille similar to the Captur. Coming to the side profile, we have a simple design with not many cuts & creases. At the rear, we have big tail lamps that extend into the tailgate but don’t intersect in the middle.

The Koleos comes with upmarket interiors being one of Renault’s premium offerings in its global lineup. Renault has used a lot of soft-touch material at important touch points. What about features? The Koleos comes with features like an 8.70-inch portrait touchscreen, adaptive airbags, blind spot warning, advanced emergency braking, a 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, etc.

The Renault Koleos is based on the Renault-Nissan CMF-CD platform, like the recently unveiled Nissan X-Trail. What about engine specifications? In India, we could see the 2.0-litre petrol engine with an 8-speed CVT gearbox and the 2.0-litre diesel engine with manual and an 8-speed CVT gearbox. Globally, both these engines come with 2WD and 4WD options.

There is no official confirmation from Renault regarding the Koleos. However, the Koleos has been spotted testing in India. So there is a chance that Renault could bring the Koleos to India. What about its pricing? Most probably, Renault will bring it via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. So its pricing could start from around Rs 30 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will rival cars like the Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass in the country.
