The Maruti Suzuki Baleno received a comprehensive upgrade in 2021, which saw the premium hatchback getting a host of features, especially the lower-spec ones. Even the base-spec Baleno Sigma variant got a few features, which make it look much more premium and not completely bare-bones. The major update in the new model of the Baleno is the addition of the ESP and hill hold. It is standard across the range, which means that even the base Sigma variant shown in this video gets the new additional safety features.
In the video, we can see a Splendid Silver-coloured Maruti Suzuki Baleno Sigma, and the presenter explains all the features and design details of the Baleno Sigma. In this heavily-updated Baleno, the Sigma variant received a few add-ons on the outside, like halogen projectors and LED positioning lamps. However, it loses out on the body-coloured finish for the door handles and rearview mirrors and blacked-out B-pillar. Apart from that, the Baleno Sigma continues to get steel wheels without wheel caps and a rear spoiler.
The cabin of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Sigma has also been comprehensively updated with new features, which make the cabin of the Sigma variant feel more premium than before. Unlike the previous Baleno Sigma, the cabin doesn’t get an all-black layout, but a dual-tone black and blue upholstery. The instrument console has also been updated with a tachometer and a more comprehensive LCD MID in between the analogue gauges.
New features
Other additional features which have improved the finesses of the Baleno Sigma include rear power windows and automatic climate control, which were earlier available from the Delta variant onwards. However, even now, the Baleno Sigma misses out on a factory-fitted infotainment system, but it still gets tilt-adjustable steering, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and reverse parking sensors. However, in the 2023 version, the new Baleno also gets a hill hold assist and an electronic stability program as standard.
Like the other variants of Baleno, the Sigma variant is also available with a 1.2-litre K12C DualJet petrol engine as standard, which produces 90 PS of maximum power and 113 Nm of maximum torque. However, unlike the other variants which are available with both the transmission options of a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT, the Sigma variant can be had only with the manual transmission option.
With all the additional features it has received, the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno Sigma now feels a more sensible option, as apart from an infotainment system, it gets every other essential a car buyer requires. And for those who want an infotainment system, the car buyers have the option to install an aftermarket system, including the ones offered by Maruti Suzuki among its list of authorized accessories.
