The XUV700 caused a steer in the automotive scene with its specifications and features. Even Mahindra didn’t expect such a response with the manufacturing constraints it faced. Feature-wise the XUV700 comes with almost everything in its top variant. Still, the top variant misses out on a 5-seater option which is offered on the lower variants. So should Mahindra offer an XUV700 AX7 5-seater variant? In today’s article, let’s find out.
Why a 5-seater?
As stated above, the XUV700 comes loaded with features in its higher variants. But what if someone needs a 5-seater with all that features? Mahindra offers the 5-seater option on MX, AX3 & AX5 variants. Mahindra should look to give a 5-seater option on the AX7 & AX7L to target a wider audience. Also, the 5-seater option will make the AX7 series more approachable for buyers as it could be at least Rs 50k cheaper than the 7-seater option.

Specifications and features
The AX7 5-seater will most likely continue with the same 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both engines will get manual and automatic gearbox options. The 5-seater should also get the AWD option on its diesel variants. In terms of features, you will get ADAS, a powered driver seat, wireless charging, 7 airbags, 360-degree surround view, an electronic parking brake etc.
XUV700 AX7 5-seater – Launch timeline
There is no official confirmation from Mahindra regarding the AX7 5-seater, but it could be a good option for the brand. It would help Mahindra to take some sales from the Tata Harrier and MG Hector. If Mahindra does bring the AX7 5-seater, it could be launched this year.
