Hyundai is gearing up to launch the new Verna sedan, and as details emerge, it’s clear the automaker has transformed the vehicle’s interior. The Verna now boasts a spacious and contemporary cabin with a range of features that will undoubtedly impress drivers.
Dual wide screen displays
One of the most notable changes is the dual-screen display, similar to that of the Mahindra XUV700, gracing the driver’s cockpit. The two 10.25-inch full-HD screens consist of a fully digital instrument console with fonts and layouts similar to the Kia Carens, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This setup offers drivers a range of information and functionality, all conveniently accessible from one central location.
The Verna will also feature a segment-first switchable type infotainment and climate control interface in the lower centre console. This touch-sensitive panel can be used as a control panel for both the audio system and climate control systems, depending on the driver’s requirements. Hyundai has also added heating functions to the front seats, which supplement the ventilation functions found in the outgoing model.

The new Verna’s cabin includes single-zone automatic climate control, rear AC vents, an 8-speaker BOSE audio system, cruise control, and a wireless charger. Drivers and passengers can enjoy these features while sitting in comfortable and spacious seats that are designed for long journeys.
Exterior
The Verna is 4,535mm long, 1,765mm wide and 1,475mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,670mm. The outgoing Hyundai Verna was the smallest of the sedans in that segment.
Outside, the Verna boasts horizontal LED positioning lamps on the bonnet, full-LED headlamps, projector fog lamps, and parametric connected LED tail lamps. These features not only enhance the vehicle’s visual appeal but also improve visibility and safety for the driver and passengers.
Performance king?
The new Hyundai Verna will only be available with petrol engines, including a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 115 PS, and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 160 PS shared with the Alcazar, which will come with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. With these engine options, drivers can enjoy a smooth and efficient ride with plenty of power under the hood. If the transmission and gearing deliver, the 2023 Verna could beat the Volkswagen Virtus 1.5 GT TSi as the new king of the road.

Early renders, sketches and spy photos of the 2023 Verna saw automobile enthusiasts divided. To some, the new front reminded them too much of the recently launched Hyundai Aura, a subcompact sedan. To others, it looked bland. Many loved the new looks, with the full-width LED running lights and a more dramatic grill.
Photos are not enough to judge the design a new car by, of course. We clearly remember how the early pictures of the Mahindra XUV700 were very disappointing, and the actual vehicle was far better in the flesh, or even in almost any other photo. We personally think the looks have the potential to make the Hyundai Verna a very dramatic car, compared to its predecessor.
