Road safety in India has always been a concern but with the advent of new generation of cars it has improved a lot. One of the biggest breakthroughs in automotive safety technologies is the introduction of ADAS which is the abbreviation for Advanced driver assistance systems. The cars that come equipped with this life saving functionality gets features such as lane departure warning and blind-spot applications and driver aids, such as night vision, driver alertness and adaptive cruise control. All of these features in tandem help the drivers of the cars to avoid horrific accidents where there can be a risk to human life. Also not only these features helps the occupants of the vehicle but also the vehicles and pedestrians on roads as well. MG Astor

The sub-compact SUV from MG which is the Astor is the first car on this list. MG offers the ADAS in Sharp and newly introduced Savvy variants of the SUV. Starting at Rs. 15.78 lakhs ex-showroom, the Savvy model of Astor is available. It comes with level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. The Savvy variant adds Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Prevention, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. You also get a Front Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Speed Assist System and Intelligent Headlamp Control.

Tata Harrier

The mid-size SUV from Tata is the latest SUV to get the ADAS functionalities. The company recently launched the model in the country and it now comes with features such as Forward Collision Warning that alerts you using audio-visual means, Automatic Emergency Braking that applies brakes automatically if required, watches out for traffic signs such as speed limits, no overtaking etc. High beam assist automatically switches from high beam to low beam when oncoming vehicles are detected. Other features are Lane Change Alert, Door Open Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Collision Warning.

Tata Safari

The Safari which is the Tata’s flagship SUV also gets all the same ADAS features as mentioned with the Harrier. Both the cars also get 360 degree reverse parking cameras, sensors all around the car and also six airbags as standard for additional safety. The standard variants of the 2023 Tata Harrier range from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 24.07 lakh, while the Safari retails from Rs 15.65 lakh to Rs 25.01 lakh. The company also recently launched the new Dark Editions of both the models with all the same features as the standard cars but just with the addition of an all-new red interior and some additional minor aesthetic changes on the outside.

Mahindra XUV700

The XUV700 is also the least expensive ADAS equipped SUV among its competitors, at almost Rs. 4 lakh less than the Tata siblings and nearly Rs. 2 lakh less than the Hector. The XUV700 is the only  Mahindra SUV available in India with ADAS safety features. The top-of-the-line SUV comes available with features like Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, High Beam Assist, and Lane Keep Assist. These safety measures are only available on the most expensive AX7 version, which starts at Rs 19.44 lakh (ex-showroom). A Blind View Monitor and Adaptive Cruise Control are added when upgrading to the Luxury bundle.

Toyota Innova Hycross

The latest premium MPV from the Indo Japanese automaker Toyota Kirloskar Motor the Innova Hycross is the only model from the brand to feature the coveted ADAS functionalities. Automatic high beam assist, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure alert, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert are all part of the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 package of technologies. Markets laces like Indonesia also get automated emergency braking technology but that is something which is not offered in India. Six SRS airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, an electrochromic inside rearview mirror, and an automatic parking brake are a few of the standout safety feature of the Hycross as well. The price for the all-new Toyota Innova Hycross MPV starts at Rs 18.30 lakh, ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 28.97 lakh, ex-showroom.

Honda City e:HEV

The Honda City Hybrid, also known as the City e:HEV, is available in a single fully-loaded trim level – ZX with all the ADAS features. The Honda Sensing suite of ADAS safety features, including Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Lane Keep Assist System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Auto High Beam, is priced at Rs 19.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it a cheap sedan with ADAS technology in India.

MG Hector

The Hector is the second SUV from MG that features ADAS technology in India. The SUV gets Autonomous Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features including Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Auto Turn Indicators, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and high beam assist. Furthermore the company has provided the 2023 Hector with other key safety features such as 6 airbags, a 360-degree HD camera, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Assist Control (HAC), all four-wheel disc brakes, a 3-point seat belt for all seats, electric parking brake (EPB), and front parking sensors. The new MG Hector now begin at Rs 14.72 lakh, those of the new Hector Plus now begin at Rs 17.49 lakh.
