Like with the 2023 Honda City facelift – which also offers ADAS – it is likely that all the features will be offered only n the top-end variants.

What are the standard safety features of 2023 Hyundai verna?

All versions of the next-gen Verna will come with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, automatic headlights, lane change indicator, emergency stop signal, impact sensing auto door unlock, and seat belt reminder for all seats.

What is offered under Level-2 ADAS in the Verna?

The Verna will also have Level-2 ADAS with front and rear radars, sensors, and cameras. The Hyundai SmartSense suite includes cool features like Forward Collision Warning, Collision Avoidance Assist (for cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and turning at junctions), Blind Spot Collision Warning, Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Safe Exit Warning, cruise control, Lane Following Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and Collision Avoidance Assist.

The Verna also has ESC with VSM, Hill Start Assist Control, electronic parking brake, front parking sensors, cornering lamps, TPMS, and disc brakes on all four corners.

You can get the Verna in four variants: EX, S, SX, and SX (O). It comes with an all-new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine that can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT, or a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed IVT.

Why you should consider the 2023 Hyundai Verna

This is an early guess, of course. To be sure, we need to test-drive the Verna. But on paper, there are some exciting things other than the ADAS. The 160 bhp turbocharged engine is one. It has the potential to dethrone the Volkswagen Virtus 1.5GT as the current king of the road. Note – potential, not guarantee! So wait for our test drive to be sure.

Dimensions are another. It is much bigger than the outgoing Verna, and has a wheelbase that puts it at the top in its segment, potentially leading to great driving dynamics.

Will the 2023 Hyundai Verna beat the 2023 Honda City in sales?

We cannot say for sure – Honda buyers are largely buying it for the reputation the brand has when it comes to reliability and maintenance. The current buyers are not buying it for its performance anymore – unlike the first generation City! So performance buyers are likely to give a second thought to the Verna, from their lusting after the VW Virtus 1.5GT. Some buyers may decide to move to the Verna instead driving up its numbers. The looks of the car are definitely modern, and may bring a few more. ADAS could bring in a few more too. So yes, there is a possibility that the 2023 Verna could beat – or at least come dangerously close – to the sales figures of the Honda City.
