Kerala Police adds 10 more Force Gurkha 4×4 SUVs to the force [Video]

The Force Gurkha is one of the most affordable 4×4 SUVs available for purchase in India. The BS6 version of the Force Gurkha was launched in 2021, and many buyers who were interested in hard-core off-roading have purchased this SUV. Last year, the Kerala Police purchased not one or two, but 44 units of the Force Gurkha 4×4 SUVs. These SUVs were inducted into the force to increase the force’s presence in mountain regions of the state. Almost a year after buying the Force Gurkha, the Kerala Police has now added ten more Force Gurkha SUVs to their fleet, and images of the officers taking delivery of the Force Gurkha have already surfaced online.

The video has been uploaded by Raftaar 7811 on his YouTube channel. The vlogger created a video using images from the event where they took delivery of the SUV. They purchased the Force Gurkha from an authorized dealership in Thiruvananthapuram. The main reason why they purchased the Force Gurkha is that 4×2 vehicles are not capable in mountain regions where the terrain is extreme. The Force Gurkha is much more spacious than its competitor, the Mahindra Thar. Additionally, the Force Gurkha has a shorter waiting period when compared to the Thar, which was probably another reason why they chose the Force.

Force does not offer a 4×2 variant of the Gurkha in the market. The SUV seen in the video has the Kerala Police livery, and the alloy wheels have been replaced with steel rims. A set of beacon lights can also be seen on the roof of the SUVs. The Gurkha comes with a Mercedes-Benz sourced 2.6-liter diesel engine that produces 90 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. As of now, there is no automatic transmission on offer. Force offers a 4×4 system, low-range transfer case, and front and rear manual locking differential as standard.

The Force Gurkha is a heavy SUV and not the best vehicle to use if you are mostly traveling on the road. The SUV does not generate much power for road use but is an extremely capable SUV in off-road conditions. We have seen several videos where the Force Gurkha is seen performing effortlessly in extreme conditions. The updated Force Gurkha SUV launched in the market comes with more features than before. The G-Wagen styling or design of the SUV has been retained. The round headlamps get LED lights, and there is a dotted LED DRL around the headlamp as well. The front grille does not have Force branding, but it gets the Gurkha badge.

The SUV also offers a touchscreen infotainment system, which was missing from the older version. We are not sure whether the SUVs purchased by the Kerala Police will have this feature as they have to install other communication devices like a radio in the vehicle. Other than the Force Gurkha, the Kerala Police have cars like the Mahindra Bolero in their fleet. The Kerala Motor Vehicle Department uses the Tata Nexon EV.
