The off-roading culture in India is growing at a rapid pace and the credit for this can be given to the lifestyle off-roaders like the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. These models came to the market early on and created a wave amongst new buyers to explore unchartered territories. However, now there’s a new kid on the block that is looking to take a huge chunk of the market from these old-time champions, and that SUV is the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. The company at the Auto Expo 2023 debuted the model for the first time and even before its launch the model has already garnered over 20,000 bookings. Recently a video comparing the size of these three SUVs with the exact measurements has been shared on the internet. This video gives us an insight into how these models will stack up against each other in real life.
The video of the size comparison between these three lifestyle off-roaders has been shared on YouTube by tripaccino on their YouTube channel. The video begins with the introduction of the Jimny and how it could have received its name. It sheds the light on the important highlights of the newest SUV from the Indo-Japanese carmaker and it then starts with the comparison of the sizes between the three models. The video shows all the fully fledged off-roaders currently available for sale in the country on scale. The first three entry level models are the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. It then shows a gap which will be filled by the five door versions of the Gurkha and Thar.

The video then mentions that the 30-40 lakh segment is filled with the Japanese off-roading pickup trucks like the Isuzu Isuzu D-Max V Cross and Toyota Hilux. The chart then finally has the Jeep Wrangler which is the benchmark of all off-road vehicles in the country. Following this the real comparison between the sizes of the Jimny, Thar and Gurkha starts. First off the creator mentions that the Jimny in itself is tall but narrow car and it has a height of 1720 mm and a width of 1645 mm. He then adds that the Gurkha is the same and is also taller than its width. The Gurkha has height of 2250 mm and a width of 1812 mm. Following this he states that the Thar is only one that is wider than its height and gets a height of 1844 mm and width of 1855 mm.
The creator of the video mentions that they taken the blueprints from the CAD designs of the vehicles and these are all to scale. This means that the cars in rear life will look exactly like they are in the video side by side. He then mentions that the Force Gurkha is the longest but the Mahindra Thar has the longer wheelbase. Following this he adds that the Jimny has the longest wheel base of them all. He then adds the five door version of the Thar and Gurkha for comparison which are not out yet but still mentions that the Gurkha will become the longest followed by the Mahindra Thar 5 door.
