The small offroader has already reached many dealerships, and people are visiting showrooms to check out the Jimny. Test drives have not started so far, however. Maruti Fronx, whose bookings were also announced alongside the Jimny has lagged behind Jimny in numbers so far – but that might change when test drives begin.

It is expected to start production in April 2023, and sales should begin in May 2023.

The maruti Jimny comes in two variants – Zeta and Alpha, and is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 134Nm of torque. It has a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed torque converter and is equipped with Maruti’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system.

The Jimny has a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, LED headlamps with washer, Suzuki Connect telematics, ABS with EBD, hill hold and hill descent control, and limited slip brake differential.

The Alpha variant of the Jimny has projector headlamps, headlamp washers, automatic headlamps, green tinted UV-cut glasses, 15-inch alloy wheels, and electrically folding and adjustable ORVMs. It comes in seven shades including Kinetic Yellow with Bluish-Black roof, Sizzling Red with Bluish Black roof, Sizzling Red, Granite Gray, Nexa Blue, Bluish Black, and Pearl Arctic White. The Zeta variant is available in all colors except Sizzling Red and has halogen headlamps, 15-inch steel rims, and regular glass for windows and windscreens.

Both the Alpha and Zeta variants are powered by the same K15B petrol engine that generates 100 Bhp and 135 Nm of peak torque. The engine is offered with a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic transmission in both variants. The Jimny SUV will come equipped with the AllGrip Pro 4×4 feature as standard, and there will be no 2WD version offered in India.
