2023 Hyundai i20 Facelift teased ahead of India launch

The South Korean automotive giant Hyundai’s Indian subsidiary, Hyundai Motor India, recently shared a tweet announcing the upcoming launch of the 2023 i20 facelift. The company has shared a dark picture of the model with subtle changes. The exact date has not been mentioned in the picture released by the company, but it could most likely be launched by the end of this month. Just a few days ago, completely undisguised pictures of the forthcoming i20 were shared by us. This new model has already been launched in the Korean and European markets.

The picture of the announcement of the Hyundai i20 facelift has been shared by the brand on their official X (formerly Twitter) account. It has been shared with a caption stating, “New launch alert! The new Hyundai i20 is about to arrive in a new avatar. Stay tuned for more updates! #Hyundai #HyundaiIndia #i20 #BornMagnetic #Iami20 #NewHyundaii20 #ComingSoon #ILoveHyundai.” From the picture, one of the biggest changes that can be noted is the addition of a new grille along with new all-LED headlights.

Although not many other details are visible from the recent picture released by the company, a ton of details that will be changed can be easily noted from the fully undisguised pictures of the car that were released during the launch of the model in the Korean and European markets. First things first, at the front, the new i20 facelift will feature a brand new set of all-LED headlights with a single strip DRL on top. Next up, the front grille of this premium hatchback will also be changed and will boast additional slots.

The front bumper will also be changed. The new bumper will feature boomerang-shaped side curtains that will house the fog lamps. Additionally, the bumper will be made a lot more aggressive. The front of the hatchback will also boast a brand new sportier front splitter. Moving to the side profile, not much has been changed on the side of this hatchback except for a brand new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Coming to the rear of the brand new Hyundai i20, this premium hatchback will also have a redesigned rear bumper which will be a lot more aggressive than the one in the outgoing model. The bumper will feature a brand new lower diffuser and will also get a silver skid plate to add to the sporty appeal of this car. Next up, the rear taillights will also be refreshed, and these all-new LED units will feature an aggressive-looking Z-shape.

Moving on to the interior side of things, the forthcoming hatchback will retain the layout from the outgoing model. However, the biggest change in this new model will be the inclusion of a new 10.25-inch TFT touchscreen infotainment screen and system. The hatchback will also come equipped with automatic climate control, a four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, and a wireless charger.

It is also expected that the new i20 might include a few new features, such as ventilated front seats. Recently, a few spy shots of the car were also shared online, and these spy shots revealed that the forthcoming i20 could come equipped with a dual-sided dash cam, similar to the Hyundai Venue N-line. Apart from that, the cabin will most likely offer the same all-black theme.

In terms of powertrain options, since Hyundai recently stopped offering the i20 in the diesel version, the hatchback is now only offered with a petrol powertrain. This means that the 1.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged 83 PS petrol engine and the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged 120 PS petrol engine from the present iteration will both remain in the redesigned i20.
