The CEO of Mercedes showcased the electric CLA Class Concept at the Munich Auto Show and also announced their plan with the mini G-Wagon.

Talking about the Little G, the CEO stated that it will be a car that will “take the character of the big & brash G-Class and condense it down into a more compact package.”

The brand even released a teaser of the Little G which did not reveal a lot of details. However the teaser had a design sketch of the SUV which showcased the outline of the upcoming mini G-Wagon. The sketch revealed the boxy design of the SUV with tail mounted spare wheel and overall it clearly draws the inspiration from the outgoing G-Wagon SUV.

ICE or EV?

According to some reports the “Little G” is supposed to be launched with traditional powertrain options. However it might also be offered in a pure electric version which will borrow the technology from the upcoming EQG; the electric version of the G-Wagon.

Also, it may receive the four wheel drive hardware as a standard equipment.

Regarding the pricing it is speculated that the “Little G” will be positioned below the G-Wagon and could undercut the pricing of the G-Wagon. Once launched, it will compete with the Jeep Wrangler and the lower spec versions of the Land Rover Defender; maybe the Defender 90?
