Tata Nexon EV facelift spied before official launch: Will get connected DRLs upfront

Tata Motors recently took the covers off of the brand-new 2023 Nexon facelift. The company has also commenced bookings for this highly popular sub-compact SUV, and the launch is slated for the 14th of September. Now, on further advancement, recently, a fully undisguised Tata Nexon EV facelift has also been spotted. The pictures of the new Nexon EV facelift with its headlights and taillights on have been leaked online. The Nexon EV facelift looks identical to the new Nexon facelift and will most likely be unveiled on the 7th of September.

The leaked pictures of the Tata Nexon EV facelift come courtesy of Motoroctane. The first picture is of the front of the new model, and it can be noted with the exact front end like the ICE model. In the picture, the two major differences between the ICE model and EV model are the connected LED DRL and the front grille. The ICE model does not get this central strip connecting the two side DRLs. Additionally, the grille design on the Nexon EV’s front bumper is also different from the ICE model. The vertically stacked LED headlights can also be seen in action. The rest of the front is exactly the same as the Nexon ICE model.

Next up, another leaked picture that shows the rear-end design of the updated Nexon EV facelift has also been shared. This picture reveals that the rear, just like the front, will look exactly like the ICE Nexon with just a single change. This time around, the company has placed a brand-new “Nexon.EV” badge in the middle of the rear tailgate. Earlier, only the “Nexon” badge used to be positioned in the middle, and the “EV” badge used to reside on the top right side of the tailgate.

According to reports, this has been done as the company is restructuring the brand identity of the EV lineup of its cars. It has also been reported that the company will most likely rename the Nexon EV Prime as the “Nexon.EV MR” (medium range). Additionally, it will name the Nexon EV Max “Nexon.EV LR” (long range). Most likely, all the upcoming electric cars from Tata Motors will be named in a similar manner.

Coming to the interior of the Nexon.EV facelift, it will come equipped with the same interior as the Nexon facelift ICE model. This means that it will get the same brand-new minimalistic design dominated by a brand-new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. The car will get similar sleek air conditioning vents and the same touch-based HVAC controls with two physical toggle switches. The car will also get a digital instrument gauge cluster along with the new and updated two-spoke steering wheel with all the controls.

As for the powertrain side of things, most likely the company will provide the Nexon.EV facelift with the existing electric powertrain. Currently, the company offers customers a choice between the 30.2 kWh battery with the Nexon EV Prime variant and a 40.5 kWh battery. The range on the Nexon EV Prime variant is around 312 km. Meanwhile, on the Nexon EV Max, it is around 453 km. The Nexon EV comes powered by the Tata Ziptron technology, under which the EV SUV gets an electric motor that generates a maximum of 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque.
