Nissan has blown hot and cold in the Indian market. It has had periods of decent sales but also some massive flops. Currently, it is surviving on the sales of Magnite. It needs to bring new products if it wants to survive in the market. Along those lines, it is working on 6 new products and one of them is a 7-seater MPV. This 7-seater is expected to be based on the Renault Triber. So, without wasting much time let’s get into the Nissan 7-seater MPV.

Recently, Renault confirmed its plan to bring as many as 9 products to India. This includes updates and new cars. Along these lines, Nissan is also expected to bring several cars. According to a media report, Nissan plans to launch 6 new cars in India. These 6 cars include the X-trail, Ariya and several other options. One of them is a 7-seater based on the Triber. It will not be a direct re-badge, but rather, the Nissan version could come with a different design and interiors. Something similar to what we already see on the Magnite and Kiger.
What to expect?
Design-wise, the Nissan version could take inspiration from the Magnite. We can expect an aggressive design language. The interior layout could get some tweaks, but the feature list should remain the same. So features could include roof-mounted AC controls, push button start-stop etc. Specification-wise, it would continue with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol capable of producing 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. Transmission options include a manual and an automatic gearbox. We hope Nissan gives a turbo petrol option on the 7-seater.
Nissan 7-seater – Launch timeline
There is no definitive launch timeline for this 7-seater. But as it is based on the Triber, it shouldn’t be a hard job for Nissan. We think this 7-seater could be launched sometime in 2024. Pricing-wise, Nissan cars are generally priced lower than their Renault counterparts. This could make the Nissan 7-seater the most affordable 7-seater option in the country.
