Tata Curvv to get a new name?

Tata Motors wowed everyone with their concept SUV, Tata Curvv. The SUV will be the first product to debut on Tata’s Gen 2 EV platform. Also, it will be first introduced as an EV and then will be introduced with the ICE version. But why are we talking about the Curvv? Well, Tata Motors has registered a trademark for a nametag, and we are speculating that Curvv will receive this new name. What is it?

New name?

So Tata Motors has recently registered a trademark for Azura name tag, and reports say that the production version of the Curvv could receive this new name. However, in an interview, Martin Uhlarik, the head of global design for Tata Motors, he confirmed that the production version of Curvv will be called Curvv.

But as we have seen in the past Tata Motors tricked us with the naming of Tata Safari. It was first showcased as Buzzard, then Gravitas, and was finally launched as the Safari. So maybe they could name the EV version as Curvv and Azura for the ICE version? But we can’t confirm anything right now, and we will have to wait for the official launch of the Curvv.

Tata Curvv will be based on Tata’s Gen 2 EV platform. The SUV boasts a coupe-like design and it looks pretty handsome. Upfront it gets connected to DRL, which we have now seen on Tata Nexon.ev facelift and the headlamps setup can be seen on the bumpers. From the side it looks sporty, thanks to the sloping roof design. At the rear as well you get connected treatment for the tail lamps and a roof spoiler. Overall the Curvv does look sporty and stylish.

Even the interiors have a very clean design with minimal buttons and switches. It is likely to get touch-sensitive HVAC controls that have debuted with the Nexon facelift, ambient lighting, a dual-tone dashboard, powered seats, digital instrument cluster, and a new 2-spoke steering wheel which has a display on the centre with a backlit Tata logo.

Specifications

Tata is yet to reveal the EV or ICE specifications of the Curvv. The EV version should ideally have a claimed range of 450 or 500km. What about the ICE variants? We could see the 1.2-litre TGDi engine is capable of producing 123bhp and 225Nm of torque. Higher variants could get a 1.5-litre TGDi engine capable of producing 167bhp and 280Nm of torque. Diesel duties could be handled by the 1.5-litre unit that will be re-tuned for the Curvv.
