After a busy day with the launch of Tata Nexon facelift and Nexon.ev, today the French automaker Citroen has launched the C3 Aircross. On the launch they have announced the introductory price of the new midsize SUV.
Citroen C3 Aircross Introductory Price
Citroen is all set to enter the mid size SUV segment to compete with the segment leaders like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. For now, Citroen has announced the introductory price of the C3 Aircross. The SUV has been launched at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh, (ex-showroom India) for the base, ‘You’ variant. Prices for the mid-spec Plus and top-spec Max variants will be announced later. The bookings for this new SUV will be open from 15th October for a token amount of Rs 25,000.
Citroen C3 Aircross ‘You’ Variant
The base You variant has been priced aggressively, but it misses out on many features from the already feature lacking SUV. Firstly the You variant comes only with a 5-seater configuration. It even misses out on features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen, speakers, reverse camera, rear defogger, and USB chargers. Also, being a 5-seater it also misses out on roof mounted AC vents that are available on 7-seater variants.
Design
The Citroen C3 Aircross boasts a unique design language like any other Citroen cars. The car is 4.3meters long and it is at par with the Creta. Upfront we have a twin DRL setup with headlamps placed in between. It gets a twin chrome grille that integrates into the Citroen logo. Coming to the side the C3 Aircross has a quite upright design and looks like a proper SUV. At the rear it gets inverted C-shaped tail lamps.
Interiors & Features
The cabin and overall dashboard layout has been shared from the C3 hatchback. It has some quirks like for instance the SUV comes with a front armrest but it has been attached only on the driver side. Even the top-spec variant lacks in terms of features. The key features it gets are four speakers with two tweeters, keyless entry, manual AC, roof-mounted rear AC vents and reverse camera.
Specifications
Powering the C3 Aircross is a sole petrol engine option. It is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 108bhp and 190Nm of peak torque. It is the same engine that also powers the C3 hatchback. For now, this engine comes mated with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter gearbox which is sold internationally is also expected to be on offer.
Overall, the C3 Aircross lacks on features and comes with just a single engine option. Whereas the competitors are miles ahead when it comes to features. Also, with such a weak infrastructure, will C3 Aircross be a successful product?
