The Magnite Kuro comes with an all-black exterior and cabin theme, which makes it sportier than before. The car also comes with additional features like a 360-degree camera, a central control armrest, wider IRVM, themed floor mats, and a wireless phone charger.

Nissan’s sole offering in India at the moment, the Magnite compact SUV, is set to receive a new transmission option for its lineup. Currently, the Nissan Magnite is available with the choice of a 5-speed manual and a CVT. Soon, it will also offer a third transmission option—a 5-speed AMT. However, this new 5-speed AMT will only be available in the variants equipped with the naturally-aspirated 1.0-litre petrol engine.

The Nissan Magnite made its debut in India in early 2020 and successfully reignited customer interest in Nissan. It was initially offered with two engine options: a 1.0-litre 72 PS naturally-aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.0-litre 100 PS turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine. Since its launch, a 5-speed manual transmission has been available as the standard transmission for both engines, while the turbocharged petrol engine also offers a CVT as an option.

5-speed AMT coming soon

The introduction of the 5-speed AMT gearbox for the naturally-aspirated petrol engine as an optional transmission will lower the entry pricing of the Magnite automatic throughout the SUV’s lineup. The Renault Kiger, a distant relative of the Nissan Magnite that shares its platform and engine options, has been offered with a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and 5-speed AMT since its debut in early 2021.

In addition to introducing new Magnite variants with the AMT gearbox, Nissan is also launching a new Black Edition for the compact SUV. As the name implies, the Nissan Magnite Black Edition will feature a black-based exterior paint shade with black accents throughout. The interior is expected to follow an all-black theme and will include features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a full-TFT 7-inch instrument console, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree parking camera, and automatic climate control.

Nissan will offer the Magnite Black Edition as a new trim level based on the current top-spec variants, and it will be available with both 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox options. Currently, Nissan relies heavily on the Magnite as its sole offering in the Indian car market. Positioned in the more affordable segment of the compact SUV category, the Nissan Magnite competes with cars such as the Renault Kiger, Tata Punch, Hyundai Venue, and Citroen C3, as well as entry-level variants of more premium compact SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV300.
