Future of Tata diesel engines
Tata Motors has stated that it will continue to produce diesel engines as long as there is customer demand and if regulations permit. At the same time, it will accelerate its push towards electric vehicles.
Speaking on the sidelines of Nexon, Shailesh Chandra, managing director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, stated that it is unfortunate that people are asking questions about diesel, but not asking anything to manufacturers who don’t have an EV yet. He also stated diesel is already declining and will decline on its own.
Tata Motors will continue to adapt to government regulations. He stated that Tata Motors discontinued many diesel models, and regulations helped exit at the right time. When regulations become so stringent that a certain powertrain cannot exist, we will follow that. Maybe after BS7, it will further come under pressure. So we will follow the market forces and what the government brings, he added.
Exclusive ev dealerships
Tata Motors is planning to open exclusive retail outlets for its EV lineup. It wants to differentiate the experience for customers opting for eco-friendly cars. These outlets are first expected to pop up in cities with high electric demand. Tata Motors is also optimistic that half of its sales volumes will come from EVs by 2030.
