Mahindra Scorpio-N gets another big price hike

The Mahindra Scorpio N has witnessed yet another price revision, with the starting price now at Rs. 13.76 lakh and the range-topping model going up to Rs. 24.53 lakh (ex-showroom). This comes as an additional increase from its launch price of Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) in July 2022, and an earlier hike of over Rs. 1 lakh this year. The price adjustments aren’t limited to just the Scorpio N; the Scorpio Classic and the XUV700 have also seen their prices rise.

The most significant price increase of Rs. 81,000 is for the Z4 Diesel MT 4WD seven-seater (E) variant. Meanwhile, the Scorpio N Z8L Diesel AT 2WD seven-seater version has seen a hike of Rs. 1,995, and the base petrol variant’s price is now up by Rs. 52,199. The range-topping model, which previously was priced at Rs. 24.51 lakh, has now inched up to Rs. 24.53 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Mahindra Scorpio N continues to be offered in a variety of variants: Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8, and Z8L. It’s available in seven exterior colors, including Deep Forest, Grand Canyon, Everest White, Dazzling Silver, Napoli Black, Red Rage, and Royal Gold. The Scorpio N is versatile in terms of seating arrangements, coming in both six- and seven-seater layouts. The Mahindra Scorpio N is offered in 30 variants, available in both 4×4 and 4×2 configurations. The 4×4 option is exclusive to the diesel engine variant and can be selected from the Z4 model onwards.

It offers two engine options: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder mStallion turbo petrol engine producing 175 bhp and 400 Nm of torque, and a 2.2-liter four-cylinder mHawk turbo diesel engine with around 203 bhp and up to 380 Nm of torque. Both engines come with a standard six-speed manual transmission, while a six-speed torque converter automatic is available as an option.

The latest Mahindra Scorpio N boasts several exterior and interior enhancements compared to the previous generation. It rides on a new ladder frame chassis that’s both lighter and more rigid. The feature list has also received a significant upgrade, including an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, 18-inch alloy wheels, black leather seat upholstery, multifunctional steering wheel, connected technology, built-in Amazon Alexa, multiple airbags, and a range of safety features and technologies.

In terms of competition, the Scorpio N goes head-to-head with cars like the Tata Safari, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, and others in the fiercely contested SUV segment. Despite the price adjustments, the Scorpio N continues to offer a compelling package with its updated features and robust performance, ensuring its relevance in the market.
