Toyota is on the rise in terms of sales. Its partnership with Maruti has opened a new dimension for the brand. With Maruti products, it has tapped into the affordable category without much investment. In August, it launched the Rumion, the rebadged version of Ertiga. Now, the brand has announced that it has halted the bookings of Toyota Rumion CNG. Why? In today’s article, let’s find out.
Bookings halted – Why?
According to Toyota, the demand for Rumion has surpassed its expectations. The CNG variant has a long waiting period and that is why the company has decided to temporarily halt the bookings to clear the backlog. However, Toyota will continue to take bookings for the petrol Rumion. This is not the first time Toyota has halted bookings in light of high waiting periods. It has halted the bookings of Innova Hycross top variants (ZX & ZX(O) since April, due to long waiting periods.
Toyota Rumion CNG – Specifications
The Toyota Rumion comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 101bhp and 137Nm of torque. Transmission options could include a 5- manual and 6-speed torque converter gearbox. The same engine comes with a CNG mode, in this mode, it produces 86bhp and 121Nm of torque. The CNG version only comes with a manual gearbox option.
Pricing
The pricing of the Rumion starts from Rs 12.27 lakh and goes to Rs 16.24 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Toyota offers CNG only on the S variant which is priced at Rs 12.93 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). You get a standard warranty of 3 years/1 lakh kilometres on the Rumion.
