Launched back in 2015, the Renault Kwid was supposed to crack the segment but it somehow couldn’t achieve the target. Renault was trying to compete with the segment leader Maruti Alto but failed miserably. Maruti Alto being an old and reliable brand did not allow the Kwid to stand a chance against it. Not a long ago, Maruti had launched the Alto K10. So can we see some action by Renault with the Kwid facelift? Well, we hope so! According to some strong reports, Renault is planning to introduce 9 products that include electric vehicles, and refreshed versions of current models which also includes the Kwid. 2024 Renault Kwid – Exterior
With the facelift, Renault could change the exterior features of the Kwid. Right now the Kwid comes with split headlamp design which is very similar to the Kiger. It does have a good looking front but changes to bumpers and grille could make it look even better.
The side could be expected to remain the same as before. However, a set of new wheels will make the design look fresher. Also, they could offer alloy wheels on the top-variants of the Kwid. Aesthetics like addition of chrome window line and chrome or body coloured door handles can help it look upmarket. Even the rear bumpers could be redesigned for a fresher look along with redesigned tail lamps.
Interiors
Similar to the exteriors, aesthetic changes are expected for interiors as well. Firstly we can expect a dual-tone interior theme to give its passengers an upmarket feel. Also, the overall design of the dashboard and the steering wheel can be refreshed as well. Other expected changes could be a new infotainment system and revised digital instrument cluster.
Rest, Renault Kwid is already a feature loaded car in its segment. It gets power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, steering mounted controls, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, electrically powered steering wheel, and a lot more.
Engine Specifications
Currently, Renault Kwid is offered with a sole 1.0-litre petrol engine. The unit is capable of producing 67bhp and 91Nm of torque. It comes with options for a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. With a facelift, Renault could also possibly offer the CNG option to make the running cost more affordable.
2024 Renault Kwid – Price
Right now the Renault Kwid comes at the starting price of Rs 5.55 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) and goes all the way up to Rs 7.56 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). However, with the facelift, the prices could get a hike of around 30k to 40k.
Overall the Renault Kwid is a strong product. It is loaded with features, has a fuel efficient engine, has better cabin space, and it looks amazing. However, to compete with the competitor like the Maruti Alto, Renault should focus on improving the power and its service network to make it stand against the competition.
