Tata Punch EV spied with Nexon Facelift-like front end styling

Tata Motors, with its electric vehicles division, is eyeing to increase its market share in the EV four-wheeler segment once again. The company has been testing the all-new Punch EV for some time now, and recently, another new test mule of this EV micro-SUV was spotted testing. The all-new test mule reveals a few more new details about this forthcoming electric iteration of the Punch.

New updates of the Punch EV

The most recent spy shots of the Punch EV test mule come courtesy of Motoroctane. According to the reports, this new test mule was spotted testing on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. This test mule from the outside did not reveal any significant upgrade over the last few test mules. The only major change on the outside that was noted was a brand-new set of alloy wheels. Most likely, these are the production-spec alloy wheels as previously, alloy wheels were the same as the outgoing Tiago and ICE Punch.

Apart from this new update, the only bigger change that was noted was the new infotainment screen. This new unit will be a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Now, whether this new 10.25-inch display will be the one seen in the Creative variant of the Nexon facelift or the one with thinner bezels in the Fearless variant, it has to be seen.

Other than these updates, the Punch EV test mule did not reveal much information. It has to be noted that the company, in an attempt to keep this test mule discreet, gave it a fake exhaust tip at the end. Most likely, with the increasing frequency of spotting these test mules, it is believed that the launch date for this highly anticipated EV SUV is coming very close. Most likely, it will be launched before the end of the year in the upcoming festive season.

Design and powertrain

In terms of design changes, the car will get a few EV badges and blue accents to notify that it has now been electrified. It also gets a front end design update which appears to be inspired by the newly launched Tata Nexon EV facelift Other than that, it will resemble the ICE Punch from the exterior. As for the drivetrain side of things at the moment, the exact details about the powertrain of this upcoming EV are unknown, but most likely, the Punch EV is slated to be powered by the same Ziptron technology that also powers the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and Nexon EV.

Currently, the company offers the Tiago EV, the best-selling electric four-wheeler with multiple battery packs that deliver different ranges. This EV hatchback comes equipped with a 24 kWh battery pack that delivers an MIDC-certified range of 315 km. And there is also a smaller 19.2 kWh battery pack available, which offers an MIDC-certified range of 250 km. Most likely, these numbers will also be retained by the Tata Punch EV.
