Major news on the future of Maruti Jimny

Earlier this year, Maruti finally launched the Jimny in India. The Jimny was a highly anticipated car being known for its off-road prowess outside India. Response-wise, the Jimny is raking in around 3k to 4k sales which is decent. Still, Jimny misses out on something that could drive its sales even further. What is that? It is a 2WD option. Now, Maruti has given an update on the probability of a 2WD Jimny. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Maruti Jimny 2WD.

Maruti Jimny 2WD update

Currently, 4×4 is standard on the Jimny. However, there have been rumours of 2WD Jimny ever since the launch of Thar 2WD. The Thar 2WD has shown there is a demand for such SUVs without their hardcore off-roading tech. Still, even with the demand, Maruti has confirmed that Jimny will not be launched in 2WD guise. This is a major miss, but it’s good in the sense that the Jimny is sticking to its off-road roots.

Specs & features

Talking about the Jimny, it comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 103bhp and 134Nm of torque. transmission options include a 5-speed manual and four-speed torque converter gearbox. Coming to the features, the Jimny comes with a 9-inch infotainment, ARKAMYs sound system, basic Suzuki connect, cruise control, auto headlamps and all power windows.
