Being careful while driving a car or riding a two-wheeler is a prerequisite. It is not something that needs to be told or explained to anybody who is learning to drive or ride. Also, this is not just for beginner drivers. It is for people who have been driving for a while. We say this because it just takes one wrong judgment to end up in a situation where the lives of people can come very close to death. Recently, a video showcasing the horror of distracted driving was shared online. In this video, a Mahindra Bolero Neo SUV came in front of a goods train and was dragged.
Mahindra Bolero Neo dragged by train
The video of this particular Mahindra Bolero Neo being dragged by a train has been shared on YouTube by OTV News English on their channel. The news channel video shows the aftermath of a Bolero Neo after it was dragged for around 30 meters by a goods train. This incident has been reported from the restricted zone of Paradip Port in Odisha.
According to the video, what happened was that a driver driving the Mahindra Bolero Neo was on a railway crossing and was going over it. However, he was distracted and did not notice the goods train coming towards his SUV. Following this, the train collided with his SUV and then dragged it for at least 30 meters. Thankfully, what could have been a massive tragedy was prevented as the speed of the goods train was slow.

This incident took place near the Mechanical Coal Handling Plant (MCHP) canteen in Odisha. From the video, it was also noted that the Mahindra Bolero Neo was damaged because of the incident. As mentioned, there were no injuries caused to the driver or the passengers of the SUV. Reports stated that passengers in the car were some employees of a private company. Following the incident, senior officials of CISF and Paradip Port’s traffic department reached the spot and cleared the track and the traffic jam on the crossing.
Distracted driving
From the above incident, we hope it has become clear as to why driving with focus is important. The importance of driving with all the surroundings in mind is crucial. When someone who is behind the wheel is not careful enough, they can cause some severe accidents. Fortunately, in this situation, the train was at a very slow speed, so it only dragged the SUV. However, had it been at a higher speed, it would have demolished the vehicle and its occupants inside would have died.
Previous train incident
Back in April of this year, a CCTV video was shared online that showed an individual disregarding the safety protocols of a railway crossing. In the video, a person who was unwilling to wait for the Rajdhani Express train to pass attempted to cross the tracks hastily. What happened next was the man slipped and fell onto the tracks. Thankfully, he managed to step away from the motorcycle; however, the high-speed Rajdhani train collided with the bike on the track and completely destroyed it. Miraculously, the man walked away from the scene without any injuries.
