Mahindra XUV700 deliberately pushes Tata Nexon off the road: Nexon passengers survive massive crash [Video]

There are many who drive aggressively on the Indian roads. Often, such driving may lead to accidents and here is an example of the same. The dashboard camera of this Tata Nexon captures an extremely aggressive driving situation where a Mahindra XUV700 pushes off the Nexon, causing massive damage.

The incident happened on a single lane bridge, without any dividers. The dashboard footage of the Nexon shows the that the Mahindra XUV700 overtakes it on the bridge. A little later, on a curve, the Tata Nexon tries to overtake the XUV700. However, the Mahindra XUV700 takes a right, hitting the Nexon.

The Nexon goes out of control and falls off the road after breaking the pillar barricades at a high speed. The front axle of the Nexon broke and the wheel came off completely.

Later, the video footage shows that the airbags of the Nexon had opened, cushioning the impact of the accident. There were two people inside the car when the crash happened and both of them came out safely, without sustaining much injuries. There is no information on why the XUV700 pushed off the Nexon.

However, there are few factors that could have led to the same. It is possible that the driver of the XUV700 was dristracted and did not see the Nexon coming. Since he was carrying a lot of speed, the vehicle understeered and came in the way of the Nexon.

It is highly unlikely that someone would crash into a vehicle intentionally. But you cannot eliminate this cause.

Tata Nexon has 5-star rating

In 2016, the Tata Nexon initially received a commendable four-star rating in crash tests. However, following certain modifications and a retest, this mid-size SUV successfully achieved a perfect five-star rating, marking it as the first car in India to attain such an honor. The Nexon secured an impressive score of 16.06 out of 17, the highest ever recorded for any car manufactured in India. This additional score elevated the Nexon’s prior four-star rating to a five-star rating, as assessed by the same testing agency.

It’s worth noting that the Tata Nexon’s body shell, platform, and structure remained unchanged from the tests conducted in August 2018. The number of standard dual front airbags in the Nexon also remained consistent. The improvement in the vehicle’s score can be solely attributed to the inclusion of the full-channel version of ABS as a standard feature, in addition to the driver and passenger seatbelt reminder system.

Tata Motors has earned recognition for its exceptional build quality, as reflected in the results from Global NCAP. Tata has affirmed its commitment to target a minimum 4-star rating and endeavor to achieve a 5-star rating for all its future vehicles. Recently, the facelifted Tata Safari and Harrier became the latest five-star rated SUVs from the brand in India.
