The EMA platform has been developed by JLR for their future born EVs. They have planned for developing pure mid-sized EV SUVs like next-gen Evoque and even the Velar and Discovery Sport. Also, Tata’s first born EV Avinya will be based on JLR’s EMA platform. However, the platform will not be restricted only for Avinya. According to Tata, they will plan a range of EV cars or SUVs that will be based on this platform.

P B Balaji, Group CFO of Tata Motors, said “If you recollect, we had shared our plans of having Gen 1 – converted architecture, Gen 2 – flexible ICE and BEV architecture and Gen 3 – pure EV architecture. When we looked around for a platform for pure EVs, we realised that for Avinya, which was always planned to be premium, JLR architecture fits well,”

Also, Tata plans to go global with the Avinya and EVs that will be based on this architecture. The result, expect the upcoming EVs from Tata to be premium than all the existing Tata cars. Also, according to P B Balaji, the usage of JLR’s platform will reduce Tata’s development time and it will help Tata Motors to get miles ahead with advanced electrical and electronic architecture. It will also help them to prepare the brand for the future autonomous vehicles.

The EMA platform will also benefit in impressive cabin space, comfort, software, over the air capabilities, advanced battery management and charging system. Apart from all these features, EMA will be able to deliver world class range and efficiency. So with the help of EMA platform, Tata Motors will be able to provide all these advanced features in their upcoming born EVs.
