Waiting period

The Mahindra Thar currently has one of the highest waiting periods for cars in India. Its RWD hard-top diesel variant has a waiting period of 16 months, which is astonishing. However, if you are ok with petrol that has a waiting period of 5 months for RWD variants. Now let’s talk about the 4WD variants including the soft-top versions which have a waiting period of up to 5 to 6 months. These waiting periods are pan-India. Also, if you are waiting for such a long time, you might as well wait for the Thar 5-door too.

Specifications

Both the RWD and 4×4 variants come with the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol capable of producing 150bhp and 320Nm of torque. In RWD, it only comes with an automatic gearbox option, while in 4×4, it comes with both manual and automatic options. Talking about diesel options, Thar 4×2 comes with a 1.5-litre diesel unit capable of producing 116bhp and 300Nm of torque. This engine only comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox. In comparison, the 4×4 variant comes with a bigger 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 130bhp and 300Nm of torque. It also comes with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Mahindra Thar waiting period & Pricing

The pricing of Mahindra Thar starts from Rs 13.30 lakh and goes to Rs 20.64 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Prices of the RWD Thar start from Rs 13.30 lakh and end at Rs 16.54 lakh, while the 4×4 variants start from Rs 16.85 lakh and go to Rs 20.64 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
