The Chennai-based bike manufacturing giant Royal Enfield will be unveiling the covers of the Himalayan 452, its newest adventure motorcycle, tomorrow on November 7. Prior to its launch, the company has revealed all the essential information about the bike. Recently, two videos with Royal Enfield officials elaborating on more details about this highly anticipated upcoming model have been shared online. In these videos, the RE officials explain in detail what’s new and improved on the Himalayan 452 adventure motorcycle.

The video featuring in-depth details about the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 with company officials has been shared on YouTube by Big Gear Customs on their channel. In the first video, the presenter gets to talk with Lorenzo Andreucci, the Design team leader and Vehicle Head of Himalayan 452. The presenter mentions that apart from electronics and the new Sherpa 452 engine, everything comes under the responsibility of Lorenzo.

Following this brief introduction, Lorenzo starts explaining the idea behind the new Himalayan 452. The first thing he talks about is the new frame of the bike. He mentions that it has been completely redesigned, now much stiffer, and packages the engine and other components more efficiently. Next, he talks about the new inverted USD fork suspension at the front, which is new for the Himalayan. He adds that the rear suspension has also been completely redesigned and now sits almost flat underneath the seat.

The vehicle lead explains that the main idea behind the new Himalayan 452 was to create a bike suitable for beginners as well as experienced riders. The new bike features a new seat design that can be adjusted by 20 mm to suit different rider heights. He also mentions that the fuel tank’s size has been increased, now capable of holding more fuel. Additionally, they have added new technological features like a new TFT circular screen, all-LED lights, and new switchgear on the handlebar. Finally, he talks about the bike’s handling, which has been designed to suit on and off-road riding with ease.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 Sherpa: Details

In the next video, the presenter visits the engine tent of Royal Enfield Himalayan 452. There, he meets Benjamin Ady, the Team leader of Engine Design, who explains all about the new Himalayan 452’s Sherpa 452 engine. He first shows a small introduction video and then starts talking about his experience in the company and the story behind the development of this new engine.

The engine lead explains that the new Sherpa 452 engine has been built from the ground up and features many elements that have never been part of any Royal Enfield engine. Some of the main highlights of the new Sherpa 452 engine are drive-by-wire, liquid cooling, improved power and torque figures, and the delivery of it. He adds that the engine overall has been made a lot smoother and quieter.

The new Himalayan’s Sherpa 452 engine, as per Ady, has achieved a 65% increase in peak power, 25% in peak torque, and 25% in peak engine speed. He also mentions that they have tried to keep the torque curve similar to the old Himalayan; however, it now offers a 20%, 22%, and 68% increment in rev bands including 3000, 5000, and 7000 rpms. The engine is also much lighter than before because of the extensive use of aluminum and smart packaging.
