The MPV will be launched soon in South Korea and is expected to make its way in India anytime in 2024. It is an XL size MPV with stunning space and features. New Kia Carnival Interiors
Once you look at the interiors you will realise the design is miles ahead than what it was earlier. The interior is wrapped in black and beige dual tone colour theme. The top of the dashboard and door pads is black while the rest is covered in bright beige colour. Also, we believe that to boost the premium quotient of the MPV, Kia might have offered soft touch elements on the top of the dashboard and the door pads.
What dominates the dashboard are the twin 12.3-inch screens. It is a curved unit which houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen system. The curved display makes it more focused towards the driver. Also, the placement of AC and multimedia controls underneath the screen are tilted towards the driver for easy access. From the pictures it appears that Kia has done a good job with space management in the centre console. It gets some free space to keep smartphones which we believe could be the wireless charging pad.
Also, there are twin cup holders along with a rotary styled gearbox surrounded by few buttons which could be for electronic parking brake and auto hold. Kia claims to use high quality materials for better sound insulation. The MPV will be offered with 4, 7, & 9-seating configurations and for the rear passengers, Kia will offer an option for 14.6-inch rear screen entertainment. To enhance the ride quality of this luxury MPV, Kia has tweaked the shock absorbers for maximum comfort.
Features
Talking about the features on offer, Kia has equipped the new Carnival with – built-in air purifier, a fingerprint authentication system, a digital mirror with camera, a heads-up display, a rotary drive selector, front and rear dash cameras, a digital rear view mirror, an updated digital key, ambient lighting along the dashboard, and two 12.3-inch screens – one as digital instrument cluster and the other as touchscreen system. Even the safety pack has been enhanced for the new Carnival. The new Carnival gets ADAS which includes features like – forward collision avoidance assist, evasive steering assist, highway driving assist, intelligent speed limit assist, and adaptive cruise control. Also, Kia is offering the Carnival with standard 8-Airbags in the international markets.
New Kia Carnival – Engine and Specifications
Kia has also revealed the engine options for the Carnival facelift. The MPV will be equipped with three powertrain options – a 3.5-litre petrol, a 2.2-litre diesel and a new 1.6-litre turbo hybrid engine. Kia has also revealed the power figures of the petrol hybrid engine. The unit is capable of producing 242bhp and 367Nm of torque. Also, the new hybrid engine comes with advanced features like – E-Handling, E-Ride, and E- Evasive Handling Assist.
India launch and Pricing
Kia has confirmed that it plans to launch the new Carnival in India. It hasn’t given a fixed timeline, but we can expect it sometime in 2024. What about the pricing? The new Carnival is expected to come through the CKD route. Expect a major price hike compared to the old Carnival, due to the new design and features. We can expect the pricing of the new Carnival to touch Rs 50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
