Royal Enfield electric bike revealed – What to expect?

Yes, Royal Enfield is doing something unimaginable for most of us and that is transitioning into the next phase of its journey. Most of the manufacturers are doing it, but Royal Enfield’s case is different. It is a manufacturer which has built its entire identity on the thump, which will be soon replaced by the dead silence of EVs. To that effect, Royal Enfield has showcased a test bed version of the Himalayan Electric bike. Let’s talk about this today.

Royal Enfield electric bike Test bed

Royal Enfield has showcased the Himalayan EV concept test bed at the EICMA. Just for context, the test bed is a stage before the prototype model. The brand will be using this test bed to try out new electric powertrains and components. According to Royal Enfield, the Himalayan test bed prototype has been through extensive testing in the wind tunnel to bring down the drag coefficient. This test bed has been in development for the last 18 months. So will it materialise into any product? Most likely it won’t lead to any future product, but it could be used as a base for future Royal Enfield EVs. The important components like the battery and frame have been designed in-house by the brand.

Royal Enfield’s plan

Royal Enfield has several products in the pipeline. Next, it is going to wrap up the launch of the Himalayan 450 by revealing its pricing. After that, we could see several 450cc and 650cc bikes like the Shotgun 650, Roadster, and Scrambler. There are also rumours of a Bobber 350, which will get a retro design compared to the Classic 350.
