Top-10 cars in India – Brezza, Scorpio & more (October 2023)

Another month of 2023 has flown by, and as the famous saying goes ‘we are into the end game now’ of 2023. October saw record-breaking car sales with the festive season at its peak. Like every month, we are bringing the top 10 selling cars in October 2023. So did your favourite car make it into the list? Let’s talk about it. 

10. Hyundai Creta

Starting off the list is the Creta. In October, Hyundai sold 13,077 units of the Creta. A slight increase from the 12,717 units sold in September. It is remarkable that even with facelift rumours, Creta continues to rake in good sales. Currently, the Creta comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (113bhp/143Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (113bhp/250Nm). Both engines come with manual and automatic gearbox options. Feature-wise, it has a 10.25-inch infotainment system, sem-digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof etc. Pricing-wise, the Hyundai Creta starts from Rs 12.90 lakh and goes to Rs 23.03 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). 

9. Mahindra Scorpio

Guess who is here after a long time, yes i.e. the Scorpio. The Scorpio duo of Classic and N are the best-selling Mahindra SUVs. In October, the duo raked in combined sales of 13,578 units. A major hike from the 11,846 units sold last month. Mahindra has played its cards quite well with the Scorpio duo. The N caters to modern buyers looking for features in a rugged package & powerful engine options. While the Classic continues to tap into the existing fan base of the Scorpio with its rugged and no-nonsense attitude. Pricing-wise, the Scorpio Classic starts from Rs 16.20 lakh and goes to Rs 20.78 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), While the N starts from Rs 15.95 lakh and goes to Rs 29.94 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The first Maruti car to appear on this list is the Ertiga, but don’t worry a lot of them are ahead on the list. The Ertiga is annihilating the competition in the 7-seater segment. Maruti sold 14,209 units of the Ertiga in October, a slight increase from the 13,880 units sold in September. As a product, the Ertiga comes with a no-nonsense 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 101bhp and 136Nm of torque. Pricing-wise, the Ertiga starts from Rs 10.06 lakh and goes to Rs 15.39 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). 

7. Maruti Dzire

The next car on the list is the Dzire, the highest-selling sedan in the country. In October, Maruti sold 14,699 units of the Dzire. A slight increase from the 13,880 units sold in September. Talking about the Dzire, it comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 88bhp and 113Nm of torque. We also have a CNG option on the Dzire. With the usable boot even the CNG tank, the Dzire is a preferred choice in the fleet segment. Pricing of the Dzire starts from Rs 7.64 lakh and goes to Rs 10.93 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

6. Tata Punch

The Tata Punch also makes its presence felt in the top-10 selling cars list. In October, Tata sold 15,317 units of the Punch. A major increase from the 13,036 units sold in September. The strong points of Punch are its nifty features and its SUV-like feel at an affordable price. It also comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (87bhp/115Nm). We also have a CNG option (72bhp/103Nm). CNG only comes with a manual gearbox option. The Punch CNG comes with Tata’s famed twin-cylinder technology that opens up a lot of space in the boot. Pricing-wise, the Punch starts from Rs 7.12 lakh and goes to Rs 12.05 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The new Nexon continues to stamp its authority over the Maruti Brezza. Still, once the initial hype goes it will be interesting the competition of the new Brezza vs Nexon in sales. In October, Maruti sold 16,050 units of the Brezza. An increase from the 15,001 units sold in September. The Brezza comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (101bhp/136Nm). There is also a CNG option on the Brezza. Feature-wise, there is a heads-up display, 360-degree camera, 9-inch infotainment etc. Pricing of the Brezza starts from Rs 9.66 lakh and goes to Rs 16.62 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

4. Maruti Baleno

The Maruti Baleno has dropped out of the top 3 this month. In October, Maruti sold 16,594 units of the Baleno. A drop from the 18,417 units sold in September. Maruti’s plan to update the Baleno with features like a 360-degree camera, heads-up display, and 9.0-inch infotainment has propelled the sales of the premium hatchback. Engine-wise, the Baleno comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 88bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options include a manual and AGS gearbox. Pricing of the Baleno starts from Rs 7.69 lakh and goes to Rs 11.41 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

3. Tata Nexon

The new Nexon is back at it and how? It has stopped Maruti’s monopoly at the top. In October, Tata sold 16,887 units of the Nexon. A slight increase from the 15,235 units sold in September. In the facelift, Tata has covered all the weak points of the Nexon from features to rear design. Feature-wise, it now gets 10.25-inch infotainment, digital instrument cluster, 9-speaker JBL system, blind view monitor, Harman AudioworX, height adjustable driver and co-driver seat. The Nexon comes with two engine options – a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. Petrol comes with a manual and a DCA gearbox, while the diesel comes with manual and AMT gearbox options. Pricing-wise, the Nexon starts from Rs 9.55 lakh and goes to Rs 18.72 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). 

Maruti Swift

The Swift experienced a major slide last month but has gained some ground back in this month. In October, Maruti sold 20,598 units of the Swift. A monumental hike from the 14,703 units sold in September. Like the Dzire, the Swift comes with a reliable 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine capable of producing 88bhp and 113Nm of torque. There is also a CNG option for mileage-conscious buyers. Pricing of the Swift starts from Rs 7.03 lakh and goes to Rs 10.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Also, do note that the Swift is soon going to get a generational update soon.

Top cars October 2023 – Maruti WagonR

Topping the list is none other than the Maruti WagonR. The tall-boy hatchback has been one of the most loved cars in the Indian market. Maruti sold 22,080 units of the WagonR in October. A major rise from the 16,250 units sold in September. The WagonR comes with two engine options 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol (65bhp/89Nm) and 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol (88bhp/113Nm). Both engines come with manual and AGS gearbox. We also have a CNG option on the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine. Pricing of the WagonR starts from Rs 6.48 lakh and goes to Rs 8.69 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
