Tata Motors has initiated trial runs of its upcoming product for the Indian car market, the Curvv midsize SUV. Infused with a touch of coupe design, the Tata Curvv has been spotted several times, confirming that it will feature the same SUV-coupe exterior styling showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. A recent patent filed by Tata Motors reveals some intriguing elements of the Tata Curvv’s interior, including a head-up display.
An image of the patent for the Tata Curvv’s interior filed by Tata Motors and accessed by MotorBeam reveals a housing located in front of the driver’s cockpit, positioned behind the instrument console. This housing appears to be dedicated to a head-up display unit, typically featuring a pop-up mechanism for projecting essential data on a small screen whenever needed.
The leaked image of the interior layout of the Tata Curvv also provides insight into the configuration of the lower center console between the front seats of the SUV. Similar to the Nexon EV, the Tata Curvv features a rotary dial here, which seems to serve as a controller for selecting different drive modes. This suggests that the leaked image pertains to the all-electric version of the Curvv, set to launch before the petrol and diesel variants of the SUV coupe.

In addition to the rotary knob for controlling drive modes, the lower center console includes a couple of switches, one of which is believed to be for the electronic parking brake. The image also reveals a standalone touchscreen infotainment system at the top of the center console, which is likely the modern 12.3-inch rectangular screen initially introduced in the Nexon EV and subsequently integrated into the extensively updated versions of the Harrier and Safari.
Many other SUVs offer HUDs
While the Tata Curvv is set to feature a head-up display, it won’t be the first SUV in its segment to offer this exclusive feature. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder already provide this feature in their strong-hybrid variants. The Tata Curvv is expected to come equipped with the new 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine showcased at the Auto Expo 2023, in addition to the 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine from the Nexon.
Tata Motors has indicated that the new Curvv midsize SUV coupe will initially debut in an all-electric version, followed by the petrol and diesel variants, all expected to be available before the festive season of 2025. Once launched, the Tata Curvv will face stiff competition from a range of midsize SUVs, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
