Kia has brought some exciting new products to India, but its next car could take this exciting co-efficient to the next level. The car we are going to talk about is the new Carnival. Kia recently unveiled the new Carnival globally and now it has revealed the engine specifications that could come with the Indian version. Now let’s start talking about the new Kia Carnival.
Engine specifications
Kia has revealed the new 2.2-litre diesel engine that will power the new Carnival. It is the same engine that powered the Carnival that was sold in India. However, Kia has tweaked the power figures a bit. More power? The new engine produces 191bhp and 441Nm of torque, which is a drop of 7bhp and an increase of 1Nm torque. This shouldn’t have much impact on the driving dynamics. Another change is that the fuel tank size has grown from 60 litres to 72 litres. In India, the Carnival should continue with the 8-speed automatic gearbox.
New Kia Carnival – Interior & features
Features are something you guys love to read about, so let’s talk about them right away. The cabin of the Carnival feels very familiar with the twin 12.3-inch screens. It is a curved unit which houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen system. Then we have touch-sensitive AC controls and ambient lighting dividing the dashboard. Other features include multi-zone climate control, wireless charging, eight airbags, digital IRVM, electrically adjustable sunroof etc. Considering you will be chauffeur-driven, Kia is also offering a rear entertainment package. This consists of two 14.6-inch screens with various inbuilt apps.
What’s new?
The design of the new Carnival draws inspiration from the EV9. We get a massive LED headlamp vertical block just below the LED DRLs. The DRL design is very reminiscent of the pre-facelift Seltos. The grille and below elements are blacked out giving it a menacing look. ADAS Radar is placed on the air dam. In the side profile, you can see the sheer length of the Carnival. It looks like it will gobble two to three MG Comets inside it. At the rear, you get a tail lamp design similar to the Seltos facelift. Overall it has a very clean rear with a neatly designed electric tailgate.
New Kia Carnival – India launch
Kia has confirmed that it plans to launch the new Carnival in India. It hasn’t given a fixed timeline, but we can expect it sometime in 2024. What about the pricing? The new Carnival is expected to come through the CKD route. Expect a major price hike compared to the old Carnival, due to the new design and features. We can expect the pricing of the new Carnival to touch Rs 50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
