New Maruti Alto rival coming in 2024!

The entry level segment isn’t seeing any exciting launches for the last few years, but that is going to change soon. The car we are going to talk about is the new Kwid. Traditionally, Alto has always had the upper hand over Kwid. But that could change in 2024, How will that happen? Renault is planning to introduce 9 products that include electric vehicles, and refreshed versions of current models which also includes the Kwid. If launched, what would it be like? Let’s talk about the new Alto rival.

Exterior

New Alto rival

We could see some changes on the exterior which are mandatory with such facelifts. At the front, we could see projector halogen headlamps with a slightly tweaked design. Other changes could be a new grille and probably a return of fog lamps. In the side profile, we could see a new set of wheel designs. Renault could offer alloy wheels making it the most affordable car to offer them. Also, Renault should give it body coloured door handles to help it look more upmarket. At the rear, we could see new bumpers and LED tail lamps.

New Alto rival – Interiors

Similar to the exterior, we can expect some subtle changes in the interiors. Being an entry level car, can’t really blame Renault for cutting costs. Still, we expect a new dual tone dashboard on the updated Kwid. Also, Renault could give a new infotainment system and digital instrument cluster with better graphics. We don’t think Renault will add any new features as the Kwid already comes with steering mounted controls, adjustable headrests, all-power windows, adjustable ORVMs and much more.

Engine specifications

The Kwid will continue with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of producing 67bhp and 91Nm of troque. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. We don’t think Renault will tweak the specifications on the updated Kwid. One change we could see is that Renault could offer CNG to make the running cost more affordable and also counter the CNG option of the Alto.

New Alto rival – Launch & price

Renault has outrightly confirmed that it plans to update the Kwid soon. Sadly, it didn’t reveal the exact timeline, but we can expect it sometime in 2024. What about the price hike? Currently, the pricing of the Kwid starts from Rs 5.55 lakh and goes to Rs 7.56 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With the facelift, we can expect a price hike of around Rs 30k to 40k.
