When it comes to automotive rivalry, two cars that have been each other’s biggest rivals since inception are the Mahindra Scorpio and Tata Safari. Both these SUVs have constantly been fighting for the title of the best SUV, and in every era, one of the two cars takes the crown. Now in 2023, with the launch of the new Mahindra Scorpio-N and the facelifted Safari, these cars have once again come head to head, and recently, a video comparison of these SUVs has been shared online.
2023 Mahindra Scorpio-N vs. Tata Safari Facelift
The video of the new Mahindra Scorpio-N being compared to the new Safari facelift has come courtesy of The Car Show on YouTube. Following the start of the video, the presenter first introduces both cars and mentions that the Scorpio-N in front is the mid-spec Z6 variant, and the Safari facelift is the top-of-the-line Accomplished variant. He states that the Scorpio-N starts with a price tag of Rs 13.05 lakh and goes till Rs 24.51 lakh. Meanwhile, the Safari facelift starts at Rs 16.19 lakh and goes up to Rs 27.34 lakh.
Front Differences
After the introduction, the presenter starts the comparison of these two formidable rivals at the front. He mentions that, in his opinion, the Scorpio-N looks a lot bolder in its appearance. However, the Safari, on the other hand, looks a lot more stylish and futuristic. He states that the Scorpio-N comes equipped with an LED headlight and LED DRL in the top-spec variant; however, the DRLs and LED headlights on the Safari look a lot more modern and sophisticated.
He adds that the Safari, with its bigger price tag, comes with more features. The new top-spec variant of the Safari facelift comes equipped with ADAS level 2 with cameras and radar sensors, along with a front camera and sensors for the 360-degree camera view. The Scorpio-N, on the other hand, only gets a camera and no front parking sensors. Next up, he adds that the Scorpio-N, even on the top-of-the-line Z8 variant, does not get ADAS features.
Side Differences
Moving on, the presenter then shows the roof of the Scorpio-N, mentioning that it only has a single-pane electric sunroof. While the Safari facelift, on the other hand, comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof. After this, the presenter compares the alloy wheels of the cars and states that the Scorpio-N comes equipped with 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. On the other hand, the Safari facelift gets bigger 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and he adds that, in his opinion, the ones on the Safari look better.
While on the side profile, the presenter also adds that the Scorpio-N, which has a bigger height, comes equipped with a side step, while the Safari facelift, because of its lower height, does not get one. He adds that the mirror on the Safari facelift gets a blind spot detection system, but the Scorpio-N misses out on this safety feature. The Safari facelift comes with dual-tone paint options, while the Scorpio-N only comes with single-tone paint options, added the presenter.
Rear Differences
He then shows the rear end of the two cars and mentions that the Safari’s rear end looks a lot better. It gets the new connected LED taillights and a reverse parking camera with parking sensors. But the Scorpio-N, on the other hand, gets simple non-connected LED taillights. It also misses out on a rear camera as well. The presenter then highlights the main difference between the two cars, which is their frame. The Scorpio-N comes with a proper ladder-on-frame chassis, meanwhile, the Safari facelift, on the other hand, comes equipped with a monocoque chassis. He adds that the Scorpio-N gets a 4X4 option, but the Safari does not.
Interior Differences
After the exterior comparison, the presenter starts with the interior comparison of the two cars. He states that the clear winner according to him in terms of the interior is the Tata Safari, which gets a much more modern and luxurious interior. He states that the Scorpio-N interior also uses premium materials but looks a little more rugged and feels a little less luxurious than the Safari facelift.
