Honda’s EV SUV to rival the Tata Curvv EV

Earlier this year, Honda launched their first dedicated SUV for India, the Elevate. At the event, Honda also announced that they are planning to launch one SUV every year by 2030. Also, they have confirmed the electric version of their Elevate SUV. Bringing an EV version will make sense as even Hyundai is preparing the Creta EV. So today, we are talking about the Elevate electric as it could be the first Honda Electric SUV in India and we are discussing what all it could get.

Honda Electric SUV – What will it look like?

Honda Electric SUV

Honda Elevate is a competitor of the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara. Design wise, we are not expecting a significant change on the Elevate EV. Honda will continue with the same design as it should work for them. Elevate boasts an upright SUV like design which also offers commanding road presence. It comes with a wide grille and sleek LED headlamps. For the EV version, Honda will try some design tweaks to differentiate it from the regular Elevate. We can expect a closed-up grille and some minor design changes to the bumpers. The side profile will largely remain the same but we could see a different set of alloy wheels. Even for the rear we can see some minor changes. Expect a different bumper and tweaked LED tail lamps. However, Honda could play around by adding a few blue or EV specific inserts on the Elevate.

Interior & Features

Honda Elevate interior

A similar story is expected for the interiors as well. They will continue with the same dashboard layout but a reworked centre console is expected. Other than that, Honda may use a different interior colour theme for the Elevate EV. Currently the Elevate is offered in brown and black colour interiors but for EV we can expect a bright interior colour theme. On the centre console, we can see a rotary dial instead of the conventional gear lever for changing the driving modes. Also, similar to the EV specific highlights on the outside, we can expect those highlights on the inside around the AC vents and around the centre console. Rest, the interiors will remain identical to the regular Elevate. For features, the Elevate EV will likely offer everything the regular Elevate offers. However, a few premium features are expected on the EV version. Features like – 10.25-touchscreen system, fully digital instrument cluster, 8-speakers, LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, ambient lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, ADAS, and a lot more could be included.

Honda Electric SUV – Battery Specifications

Honda Electric SUV - Honda Elevate

Currently Honda doesn’t have any EVs in India which makes it a bit tricky to guess the battery size that Elevate could get. Even at the global level, Honda only has the ‘e’. The ‘e’ comes with a 35.5kWh battery pack which has a claimed range of 222kms. However, for the Elevate EV, Honda will need a larger battery pack. The upcoming competitors of Elevate EV are expected to have a claimed range of at least 350-400kms. So Honda would want to stay at par and offer a claimed range of around 400kms. The ‘e’ comes with a 134bhp and 152bhp motor. We can expect a similar powered motor on the Elevate electric.

Expected Launch & Price

Talking about the launch of Honda Elevate electric SUV, Honda has stated that they are planning to launch the Elevate by next three years. That said, we can expect the launch to happen by the first half of 2026. Once launched, the Elevate EV will face competition from the Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and Maruti Suzuki eVX. Pricing wise, the Elevate EV SUV is expected to be priced at Rs 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
