According to our sources, there were rumours of the Tata Punch EV launching on 21st December, however now we have been told that it might be happening sometime early next year.
We had seen similar reports previously as well, which had claimed the launch to happen between Oct/Nov but the launch was postponed to clear the pending orders of Tiago EV. So finally, when will Tata Punch EV launch and what to expect?

Tata Punch EV – Launch Date
According to our sources, there were rumours of Tata Motors launching the Punch on 21st of December but these have not been confirmed by the brand. After a long wait we were happy that the date was out but since there are no confirmations, we will all have to wait more.
Design
Tata Punch EV will be based on the regular Punch and so it will look very familiar. However, the spy shots of the test car revealed some key highlights. Firstly, the Punch EV will get connected LED DRLs like we saw on recent Tata SUVs. Also, the Punch will get the charging socket just below the front grille. On the side we won’t see any changes on the Punch EV but can expect new design for alloy wheels. However, a test mule was spotted with a camera on the ORVMs which hints at a 360-degree camera setup. The rear was also spotted but we couldn’t see any noticeable changes.
Tata Punch EV – Interior and Features
The interiors will also remain largely the same. The Punch already has good quality of fit and finish and the same will be expected on the EV version too. However, Tata may offer some extra features on the EV. For instance the Punch EV will likely get a 10.25-inch touchscreen system which was earlier spotted in a test car. Other changes could include a new digital instrument cluster. Now although we are not sure but it would be interesting if Tata Motors offers the illuminated steering wheel from the Nexon. Rest, we can expect a lighter shade for interiors and just like every other Tata SUVs, we can see different Personas for the Punch EV. Other expected features are – 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, connected car technology, all-4 disc brakes, 360-degree camera, leatherette upholstery, 45W type C charging ports, and 6-Airbags on the higher variants.
Battery Specifications
Tata will likely continue with LFP batteries that we have seen on other Tata EVs. We could see a single battery pack of around 26-30kWh which will be lighter than the Nexon’s battery pack. Hence, we can expect a better range on the Punch EV. Also, the Punch EV will come with lighter and more efficient Gen 2 electric motors. However, the torque output on the Punch EV will be restricted. Overall, we are expecting a claimed range of 330-350km with an expected real life range of 250km.
Tata Punch EV – Launch and Pricing
So if claims go right this time, we might see the Punch EV launch happening sometime in early 2024. We can expect price announcements to happen a few days after the unveiling event. Overall, we are expecting it to be priced somewhere in the range of Rs 13.5 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) and go about Rs 17 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
