Toyota Fortuner Rival spotted testing

Toyota Fortuner, a nameplate that holds power, is currently enjoying the monopoly in India. Despite being pricer and less on features, Toyota Fortuner outsells the only competitor, MG Gloster. However, we will soon have another competitor coming in, the Nissan X-Trail. The SUV was showcased previously and is now spotted testing in India.

Fortunately or unfortunately, only the rear-end of the SUV was spied. Still, we can see the road presence of the SUV. It looks tall with huge wraparound tail lamps and a cleaner rear design. From the spy images we can see the SUV is equipped with rear wiper washer, roof mounted spoiler with integrated brake lamps, shark-fin antenna and large bumpers lower down. The tailgate design is clean with the minimal elements used like Nissan logo and X-Trail lettering. We wish we could have got to see the front of the SUV but even from the rear it looks huge.

Nissan X-Trail – Overview

Nissan X-Trail

We do know how it looks from the front as it was showcased in India. Upfront, the X-Trail has a massive grille, along with neatly done split headlamps. It looks wide and neat from the front but not as aggressive as the Fortuner. Even the interiors are done pretty neatly. They look clean and are covered with some high quality materials. It gets an all black interior theme and we do expect some brighter shade on offer as well.

There is a free standing 12.3-inch touchscreen system along with the digital instrument cluster. Also, the Nissan X-Trail will come equipped with a massive panoramic sunroof. The steering wheels look sporty and it is kind of a four-spoke unit. We thankfully have physical buttons for the climate control which is displayed on a small display panel. Also, it will get an electronic parking brake which creates more space in the centre console.

Nissan X-Trail – Launch and Price

Earlier this year, Nissan reported that it plans to launch 6 new cars in India, and one of them is expected to be the X-Trail. The 2023 is about to end but still have no confirmations of the launch of X-Trail. What about pricing? Nissan hasn’t confirmed whether the X-Trail will be a CBU or a CKD model. Still, we think the pricing of the X-Trail could start from Rs 45 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
